Weightlifting at the 2011 Arafura Games took place at the Darwin Entertainment Centre between 10 and 13 May 2011. [1]
Together with that year's Oceania Championships (which also include the South Pacific Championships), they were held concurrently as a single event designated the 2011 Arafura Games & Oceania Championships. [2] [3] Athletes from certain countries were able to contest multiple championships simultaneously (including age-group variants).
There were also two openweight para powerlifting events (one per gender) for disabled athletes.

Ofisa Ofisa, also known as Ofisa Junior Asiata, is a Samoan Oceania and South Pacific Games Champion in weightlifting and powerlifting.
Erika Yamasaki is an Australian weightlifter. The daughter of Minoru Yamasaki and Ann Alvisio, she started Weightlifting in 2000, when she was tested in a talent identification program, along with her brother John Yamasaki. Erika first started to represent Australia in 2003 at the Oceania Championships, Niue Island. She has now competed at several international events, including Oceania Championships, World Championships, World Cup, Commonwealth Championships, Pacific and Commonwealth Games.
Paralympic powerlifting, also known as para powerlifting and para-lifting, is an adaptation of the sport of powerlifting for athletes with disabilities. The only discipline in Paralympic powerlifting is the bench press. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee and is open to anyone with a minimum level of disability who can extend their arms within 20° of full extension during a lift. Powerlifting has been competed at the Summer Paralympics since 1984.
Weightlifting is one of the sports at the quadrennial Commonwealth Games competition. It has been a Commonwealth Games sport since 1950. It is a core sport and must be included in the sporting programme of each edition of the Games.

Darren Gardiner is an Australian Paralympic powerlifter. He has won two Paralympic silver medals in the Men's Over 100 kg powerlifting event. He did not medal at the 2012 Games.
Tuvalu competed at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 4 to 18 July 2015. Nakibae Kitisane was the Chef de Mission. Tuvalu listed 101 competitors as of 4 July 2015. Four competitors qualified for two sports.
Telupe Iosefa is a Tuvaluan powerlifter. In 2015 Telupe Iosefa received the first ever gold medal won by Tuvalu at the Pacific Games in the powerlifting 120 kg male division.
The Tuvalu Powerlifting Federation (TPF) is the organisation recognised by the International Powerlifting Federation as the powerlifting federation of Tuvalu.
Feagaiga Stowers is a Samoan weightlifter. She competed in the women's +90 kg event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning the gold medal.

Brandon Dean Wakeling is an Australian weightlifter. He won the gold medal in the men's 73 kg event at the 2019 Pacific Games held in Apia, Samoa. He represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He also represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and 2022.
