Weniecka Ewing is a Turks and Caicos Islander fashion model and beauty pageant titleholder.
A native of the town of Blue Hills, Providenciales, Ewing's family members and friends noticed her looks and suggested a future in modeling. Ewing first won the 2004 Miss Turks and Caicos contest. Winning this contest guaranteed her right to compete in Miss Universe. She arrived in May 2005 at Thailand to compete for the Miss Universe crown of that year. The contest's finale was held on 30 May. While in Bangkok for the international competition, Ewing won Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports Award during the national costume competition. At 5'3", Ewing was the shortest delegate in the contest and could not beat the overwhelming odds in the highly competitive final. Canada's Natalie Glebova won the title. Ewing, who had just graduated high school when those beauty contests took place, was hoping to later become a Business Admiral in the Turks and Caicos Islands. [1]

Miss World 2005, the 55th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 10 December 2005 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. María Julia Mantilla of Peru crowned her successor Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir of Iceland. 102 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. All contestants competed in three "fast track" events, Beach Beauty, Miss Talent, and Beauty With a Purpose contests. The winner of each competition immediately became one of the fifteen pageant semi-finalists. She became the third Icelandic woman to win Miss World.

This edition marks the most recent time that a first-time entry of a country at Miss Universe has won and the third time in pageant's history, after Colombia in 1958 and Finland in 1952. Previously, from 2013 to 2014, the license belonged to the Miss Golden Land Myanmar organization, and then it was under the proprietary of the Miss Universe Myanmar organizer, Hello Madam, during 2017 – 2020. Since 2021, the Glamorous International, headed by a Burmese overseas in Thailand, Htoo Ant Lwin, has been responsible for sending Myanmar delegates to compete at Miss Grand International.
