Werner Beier (born 25 April 1936) is a German sports shooter. He competed in the men's 25 metre rapid fire pistol event at the 1976 Summer Olympics. [1]

Werner Potzernheim was a German road bicycle and track cyclist, who won the bronze medal in the men's 1.000m sprint scratch race at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland behind Enzo Sacchi (Italy) and Lionel Cox (Australia). He was a professional rider from 1954 to 1966. Originally from Hamburg, Werner Potzernheim moved to Hanover in 1950.

The men's shot put was an event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. There were 26 participating athletes from 18 nations. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event took place on 31 July 1992. The event was won by Mike Stulce of the United States, the nation's first victory in the men's shot put since 1968. His countryman Jim Doehring took silver. Vyacheslav Lykho of the Unified Team earned bronze, the first medal for a Soviet or former Soviet athlete in the event since 1980.

Nations had been limited to two shooters each since the 1952 Games. The event was won by Corneliu Ion of Romania, the nation's first victory in the event since 1956 and second overall. East German Jürgen Wiefel repeated as silver medalist, becoming the sixth man to win multiple medals in the event. Austria earned its first rapid fire pistol medal with Gerhard Petritsch's bronze.
