Wesley Adam Rachels (born January 19,1976) is a former second baseman who won the 1998 College World Series Most Outstanding Player award while a senior at the University of Southern California.
While at USC in 1996,he played collegiate summer baseball for the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League. [1] [2]
In the 1998 College World Series,he set a championship game record with seven RBI,and tied another record with five hits in a game.
Rachels was drafted in the 33rd round of the 1998 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies,playing professionally in 1998 and from 2000 to 2002,never reaching the major leagues. He began his professional career with the Batavia Muckdogs,hitting .301 with 16 RBI. He had a good eye at the plate,walking 18 times and striking out only 15 times in 133 at-bats. He missed the 1999 season.
For the remainder of his career,he'd play in the Baltimore Orioles organization. In 2000,he played for the Delmarva Shorebirds,hitting .260 with 46 RBI. He walked 96 times and had 58 strikeouts. He played for the Frederick Keys in 2001,hitting .261 with 26 RBI,58 walks and only 52 strikeouts. 2002 was his final professional season. He spent it with the Bowie Baysox,hitting .201 with 21 walks and 33 strikeouts.
Overall,Rachels hit .254 in 340 minor league games. In 1062 at-bats,he did not hit a single home run,however he scored 139 runs and drove 107 in. He walked 193 times and struck out 158 times.

He was a player with home run power and a tendency to strike out. He was nicknamed "Bye Bye" because of his home run hitting prowess. He was also known by the nickname "Bones",which is a malapropism for Balboni. He is also known for the "Curse of the Balboni",an idea written about by Rany Jazayerli which said no baseball team with a player hitting more than 36 home runs for that team could win the World Series. Since Balboni was the last player to hit 36 home runs and win a World Series,,the curse bore his name. The curse ran from 1985 until Luis Gonzalez and the Arizona Diamondbacks won the 2001 World Series.
Robert Thomas Aspromonte is an American former professional baseball player and business entrepreneur. He played as a third baseman in Major League Baseball in 1956 and then from 1960 to 1971,most prominently as a member of the newly formed Houston Colt .45s expansion team where,he became the regular third baseman for the first seven seasons of the young franchise. As well as being the first-ever batter for Houston,he was also the last Brooklyn Dodger to appear in a major league game. He also played for the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets.

Andrew Bernard "Barney" Gilligan was an American professional baseball player whose career spanned 12 seasons,11 of which were spent with the Major League Baseball (MLB) Cleveland Blues (1879–1880),Providence Grays (1881–1885),Washington Nationals (1886–1887),and Detroit Wolverines (1888). Gilligan,who predominately played as a catcher,also played as an outfielder and a shortstop. Over his career,Gilligan compiled a career batting average of .207 with 217 runs scored,388 hits,68 doubles,23 triples,three home runs,and 167 runs batted in (RBI) in 523 games played. Although the majority of his career was spent in the major leagues,Gilligan also played in minor league baseball. He was listed as standing 5 feet 6 inches (168 cm) and weighing 130 pounds (59 kg).
David William Maroul is a former baseball player. He was the 2005 College World Series Most Outstanding Player. He played collegiately for the Texas Longhorns. He is one of six players from University of Texas at Austin to win that award. The others are:Tom Hamilton,Mickey Reichenbach,Calvin Schiraldi,Huston Street and J.L. Smith.
