Ronald Lee Davini (born May 5,1947) was a catcher who is most notable for winning the 1967 College World Series Most Outstanding Player award while a junior at Arizona State University. He is one of five players from Arizona State University to win that award. The others are Sal Bando,John Dolinsek,Bob Horner and Stan Holmes. Prior to playing collegiately,he attended Anaheim High School.
He was also a Western Athletic Conference All-Star twice (in 1967 and 1968).
He was drafted four times by big league teams. The first time,he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 20th round of the 1965 amateur draft. He refused that. In 1967,he was drafted in the third round by the New York Yankees. He refused that as well. In 1968,was drafted in the seventh round by the Cleveland Indians,but once again,he refused to sign. Finally,after being drafted by the White Sox again in the first round (20th overall) of the 1969 draft,he did sign. Although he played professionally for five years,he never made it to the majors.
In his first year of professional baseball,1969,he played for the Duluth–Superior Dukes. With them,he hit .276 with four home runs in 66 games. He played for the Appleton Foxes in 1970,hitting .227 with five home runs in 91 games. Playing for the Lynchburg Twins in 1971,he hit .218 with four home runs in 115 games. His average again declined in 1972 as he played for the Tucson Toros. He hit .191 in 48 games. Finally,he played his final professional season in 1973 with the Iowa Oaks,hitting .250 in 24 at-bats.
Since 1992,he has worked for USA Baseball. In 1997,he was selected the USA National Amateur Baseball Coach of the Year and in 2005 he won the National High School Baseball Coach of the Year Award. He also taught and coached at Corona del Sol High School for 28 years,at McClintock High School for six,and Tempe Preparatory Academy for 2. He has recently come out of retirement to help out as the catchers coach and an assistant freshman coach at Corona Del Sol High School for 7 years. In Feb 2020 he retired from coaching baseball.
He was the President of the National High School Baseball Coaches Association in 1997. Now he is serving as its executive director. He was inducted into the National High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as well.
In the National Baseball Hall of Fame,he has a spot dedicated to him because of his collegiate accomplishments.
Carlton Ernest Fisk,nicknamed "Pudge" and "the Commander",is an American former professional baseball catcher who played 24 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox. In 1972,he was the first player to be unanimously voted American League (AL) Rookie of the Year. Fisk is best known for his game-winning home run in the 12th inning of Game 6 of the 1975 World Series,during which he memorably waved his arms hoping for the batted ball to remain fair.
Jason Andrew Varitek,nicknamed "Tek",is an American professional baseball coach and former catcher. He is the game planning coordinator,a uniformed coaching position,for the Boston Red Sox. After being traded as a minor league prospect by the Seattle Mariners,Varitek played his entire 15-year career in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Red Sox. A three-time All-Star and Gold Glove Award winner at catcher,as well as a Silver Slugger Award winner,Varitek was part of both the 2004 World Series and 2007 World Series Championship teams,and was viewed widely as one of the team's leaders. In December 2004 he was named the captain of the Red Sox,only their fourth captain since 1923. He was a switch-hitter.
Douglas Anthony Mirabelli is an American former Major League Baseball catcher. He played for the San Francisco Giants (1996–2000),Texas Rangers (2001),Boston Red Sox (2001–2005),and San Diego Padres (2006) before returning to the Red Sox (2006–2007) to end his 11-year career. He batted and threw right-handed.
Charles Edward Johnson Jr. is an American former professional baseball player. During a 19-year professional playing career,Oliver played parts of 13 seasons in MLB for seven different teams during 1989–2001,and was a member of the World Series-winning 1990 Cincinnati Reds. He later managed in Minor League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox organization from 2014 through 2020,and in collegiate summer baseball in 2021 and 2022. As a player,Oliver was listed at 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) and 215 pounds (98 kg);he batted and threw right-handed.
Nelson Gil Santovenia Mayol is a Cuban former professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues primarily as a catcher from 1987 to 1993. He played college baseball at the University of Miami. He is currently the hitting coach for the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
Danny Kay Goodwin is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a first baseman and designated hitter from 1975 to 1982. He also played in the Nippon Professional Baseball league with the Nankai Hawks in 1986. Goodwin is the only baseball player to be drafted first overall in the Major League draft in two separate drafts.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft and started his professional career in their organization with the rookie-league Ogden Raptors.
