The West Indies High Performance Centre (WIHPC or just HPC) is a cricket academy and training centre based at the 3Ws Oval on the Cave Hill, Barbados, campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI). The centre was initially sponsored by the Sagicor Financial Corporation, and known as the Sagicor High Performance Centre.

The WIHPC was officially opened in June 2010 by the Prime Minister of Barbados, David Thompson. The centre is a collaboration between the University of the West Indies and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), [1] and had been planned since at least 2008, when it was announced in a statement from the WICB. [2] The initial intake comprised fifteen West Indian players between the ages of 19 and 27. [3]

On several occasions, matches played by the HPC have been granted first-class, List A, or Twenty20 status. An HPC team competed in the 2010–11 and 2011–12 editions of the Regional Super50 (the domestic one-day tournament), making the semi-finals of the latter. [4] In May and June 2014, the HPC played a series against a touring Bangladesh A team, which comprised two first-class fixtures, three one-day matches, and two Twenty20 matches. [5] [6]

Tino Best

Tino la Bertram Best is a West Indian cricketer. Since 2002, he has played domestic cricket for his native Barbados, with a season at English club Yorkshire in 2010. Best made his Test debut in May 2003 and played his first One Day International a year later. A back strain incurred in May 2004 prevented Best from playing cricket until March the following year. In 2008 Best signed to play in the Indian Cricket League because he had not played international cricket since 2006. He returned to the side when the West Indies fielded a side weakened by contract disputes between leading players and the West Indies Cricket Board but was dropped shortly after. On his return to the Test side on 10 June 2012, he broke the record for highest score by a number 11 batsman, making 95 against England at Edgbaston.But,later in 2013 his record was surpassed by Ashton Agar who scored 98. The 143-run partnership with Denesh Ramdin in the same match was also notable; it is the third-highest Test stand with one wicket remaining.

The Barbados national cricket team is the national cricket team of Barbados, organised by the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA). Barbados is a member of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), which is a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in its own right, and Barbadians play internationally for the West Indies cricket team.

The West Indies cricket team, nicknamed the Windies, is a multi-national men's cricket team representing the mainly English-speaking nations and territories in the Caribbean region and administered by Cricket West Indies. The players on this composite team are selected from a chain of fifteen Caribbean territories, which are parts of several different countries and dependencies. Cricket is the most popular sport in the Caribbean. In the sport of cricket, the West Indies is a sporting confederation of fifteen mainly English-speaking Caribbean countries and territories, many of which historically formed the British West Indies. It consists of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States Virgin Islands. The governing body for the confederation is the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), which is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC); beneath the WICB are six territorial governing bodies covering different nations and regions of the confederation. The WICB organises the West Indies cricket team, which represents the confederation in international cricket, as well as administering domestic cricket competitions across the West Indies.

Nikita O'Brien Miller is a West Indian cricketer who plays international cricket for the West Indies and domestic cricket for Jamaica. He is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and lower-order batsman. He was the leading wicket taker in the 2007–08 Carib Beer Challenge and in June 2008 he won his first One Day International cap with the West Indies. The following year he made his Test debut for a weakened West Indies team during a contract dispute.

Caribbean Twenty20

The Caribbean Twenty20 was an annual tournament Twenty20 cricket tournament in the West Indies that was held four times from 2010 to 2013. The top performing domestic team qualified for the Champions League Twenty20 tournament. It was replaced by the Caribbean Premier League, whose first season began in July 2013.

Shannon Terry Gabriel is a West Indian first-class cricketer. He is a fast bowler. He became a key member of the Trinidad and Tobago's attack quickly after his debut in 2010. Following a neck injury to Ravi Rampaul, which forced him out of the match, Gabriel made his Test match debut for West Indies in May 2012, against England at Lord's. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 21 June 2016 against Australia.

University of the West Indies cricket team

A cricket team representing the University of the West Indies (UWI) played several matches in West Indian domestic cricket during the early 2000s, and currently plays at lower levels.

The Caribbean Premier League is an annual Twenty20 cricket tournament held in the Caribbean. It was created in 2013 and replaced the Caribbean Twenty20 as the premier Twenty20 competition in the Caribbean. It is currently sponsored by Hero MotoCorp and consequently officially named the Hero CPL. The inaugural tournament was won by the Jamaica Tallawahs who defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final.

Miguel Lamar Cummins is a Barbadian cricketer who played eleven One Day Internationals (ODI) and fourteen Test matches for the West Indies. At domestic level, he represents Barbados, and has also played for the Antigua Hawksbills and the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). In October 2019, he signed a Kolpak deal with the English side Middlesex County Cricket Club, ruling him out of international selection.

Roston Lamar Chase is a Barbadian cricketer who plays for the West Indies national cricket team and Barbadian national side in domestic. A batting allrounder, he is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off spin bowler. In July 2017, he was named Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year by the West Indies Players' Association.

Kyle Anthony McDonald Corbin is a Barbadian cricketer who played for the Barbadian national side in West Indian domestic cricket. A right-handed batsman and occasional wicket-keeper, he spent his early career with the Combined Campuses and Colleges, a development team.

Kyle Antonio Hope is a Barbadian cricketer who has played for both Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago in West Indian domestic cricket, as well as the Combined Campuses and Colleges. He is a right-handed middle-order batsman.

Jeremiah Stevenson Louis is a Kittitian cricketer who has played for the Leeward Islands in West Indian domestic cricket.

The 2011–12 Regional Super50 was the 38th season of the Regional Super50, the domestic limited-overs cricket competition for the countries of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). All matches in the competition, which was the first edition to be branded as the Regional Super50, were held in Guyana.

Andre St Aubin Creary is a Jamaican cricketer who captained the West Indies under-19s at the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, also playing at the 2008 tournament. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off spin bowler.

Kjorn Yohance Ottley is a Trinidadian cricketer who has played for both Trinidad and Tobago and the Combined Campuses and Colleges in West Indian domestic cricket.

Shamar Springer is a Barbadian cricketer. He made his List A debut on 16 January 2015 in the 2014–15 Regional Super50 tournament. In December 2015 he was named in the West Indie's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Keron Julius Cottoy is a Vincentian cricketer who has played for several teams in West Indian domestic cricket. He has represented the St Lucia Zouks and St.Kitts Patriots franchises in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Roland Osbert Cato is a Grenadian cricketer who has played for the West Indies under-19s team. He is a right-handed middle-order batsman.
