The Nevis cricket team is the representative team of the Caribbean island of Nevis. The team is organised by the Nevis Cricket Association (NCA) which is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association (LICA), in turn an affiliate of Cricket West Indies.
Players from Nevis represent the Leeward Islands cricket team in West Indian domestic cricket and the West Indies cricket team in international cricket. Nevis is the smaller island in the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis – both islands field separate teams.
Nevis was admitted to the Leeward Islands Cricket Association in 1949 and competed in the Leeward Islands Cricket Tournament for the first time in that year. [1] Its first match was played against Montserrat. [2] The current Nevis Cricket Association (NCA) was formed in 1973. [3]
Nevis played in the Stanford 20/20 tournament in 2006 and 2008, briefly turning professional under the sponsorship of American billionaire Allen Stanford. [4] It lost to Trinidad and Tobago in the semi-finals of the 2006 tournament and to Jamaica in the quarter-finals of the 2008 tournament. [5]
The main cricket ground in Nevis is Elquemedo Willett Park, previously known as Grove Park. The ground was renamed in 2010 in honour of Elquemedo Willett, a Nevisian who became the first player from the Leeward Islands to represent the West Indies. [6]
The Leeward Islands cricket team is a first class cricket team representing the member countries of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association, an associate of the West Indies Cricket Board. Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, Montserrat, British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands and Sint Maarten are members of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association. The team does not participate in any international competitions, but rather in inter-regional competitions in the Caribbean, such as the Regional Four Day Competition and the Regional Super50. The team competes in regional cricket under the franchise name Leeward Islands Hurricanes.
Elquemedo Tonito Willett is a former West Indian international cricketer who played in five Test matches in 1973 and 1974.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) is the governing body for cricket in the West Indies. It was originally formed in the early 1920s as the West Indies Cricket Board of Control, but changed its name to West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) in 1996. In November 2015, the Board resolved to rename itself as Cricket West Indies as part of a restructuring exercise that would also see the creation of a separate commercial body. This rebranding formally occurred in May 2017.
Tonito Akanni Willett is a West Indian cricketer who played for the Leeward Islands. He is the son of Elquemedo Willett, brother of Akito Willett and the cousin of Stuart Williams. He is a right handed batsman and bowls at a right-arm medium pace.
The British Leeward Islands was a British colony from 1671 to 1958, consisting of the English overseas possessions in the Leeward Islands. It ceased to exist from 1816 to 1833, during which time it was split into two separate colonies. It was dissolved in 1958 after the separation of the British Virgin Islands, and the remaining islands became parts of the West Indies Federation.
Leonard Alphonso Harris was a West Indian cricketer who played for the Leeward Islands between 1958 and 1971. An opening batsman for much of his career, and occasional bowler in his final seasons, Harris played in West Indian first class cricket, as well as facing the MCC team, England and Australia during his career. He played 27 matches, scoring nearly 1,400 runs at 29.04, including a century, and taking 15 wickets at 19.46. He then went on to play lower-level cricket for St. Kitts until 1976, and helped create the first cricket academy in the Leeward Islands.
The Leeward Islands Cricket Association, also known as the Leeward Islands Cricket Board, is the ruling body for cricket in the following Caribbean islands: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Montserrat, Nevis, Saint Kitts, Sint Maarten, and the United States Virgin Islands. Dominica is geographically a part of the Leeward Islands, but as it was part of the Windward Islands colony from 1940 until its independence, its cricket federation remains a part of the Windward Islands although it did participate in the first Leeward Islands tournament and was a founding member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association in 1913.
McPherson Meade is a West Indian cricketer. Meade is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He also plays football for the Montserrat football team as a goalkeeper. He was born on Montserrat.
The United States Virgin Islands cricket team has represented the United States unincorporated territory of the United States Virgin Islands in cricket. The team is not a member of the International Cricket Council, but is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association, which itself is a member association of the West Indies Cricket Board, and players from the United States Virgin Islands generally represent the Leeward Islands cricket team at domestic level and the West Indies at international level. The United States Virgin Islands have however played as a separate entity in matches which held Twenty20 status, but has not appeared in first-class or List A cricket.

Harwood Wycum Williams is a former Kittitian cricketer who played several matches for the Leeward Islands during the 1990s. He was a right-handed all-rounder bowling medium pace.
Elquemedo T. Willett Park, known as Grove Park until 2010, is a sporting complex in Charlestown, the capital of the Caribbean island of Nevis. The venue's primary use is as a cricket ground, and it serves as a home ground for both the Nevis and Leeward Islands cricket teams.
Akito Elquemedo Willett is a Nevisian cricketer who has played for the Leeward Islands in West Indian domestic cricket. He is a leg spin bowler who bats right-handed.
The Montserrat national cricket team is the representative cricket team of the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat. The team is not a member of the International Cricket Council, but the Montserrat Cricket Association is a member of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association, which itself is a member association of the West Indies Cricket Board, and players from Montserrat generally represent the Leeward Islands cricket team at domestic level and the West Indies at international level. Montserrat has however played as a separate entity in matches which held Twenty20 status, but has not appeared in first-class or List A cricket. The team was previously coached by Abdiel Hughes, who was appointed in April 2012. Their former captain was McPherson Meade.
Colin Archibald is a Nevisian professional cricketer. He made his List A debut on 15 November 2019, for the Leeward Islands in the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament. He made his first-class debut on 9 January 2020, for the Leeward Islands in the 2019–20 West Indies Championship.

They compete in the Women's Super50 Cup and the Twenty20 Blaze, which they joined in 2016.
Jahzara Keanna Chloe Claxton is a Saint Kitts and Nevis footballer and cricketer. In football, she plays as a forward for Newtown United FC and the Saint Kitts and Nevis women's national team. In cricket, she plays as a left-handed batter and right-arm medium bowler for Leeward Islands. She has also played cricket for West Indies Under-19s, becoming the first ever female cricketer from the Leeward Islands to be selected for the West Indies U19 squad.
