West Lancashire College (formerly Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College) is a further education college based in Skelmersdale, West Lancashire, England. The college is a part of a larger organisation called NCG.
Originally known as Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College, the college was originally an independently controlled institution, but was taken over by Newcastle College (now NCG) in 2007. [1]
In August 2011, the college changed its name to West Lancashire College. [2] The following month the college moved to a new £42.8 million campus, based near to its old demolished Northway Campus in Skelmersdale.
The college currently offers a range of courses to students from the local area. These courses include Diplomas, NVQs, Apprenticeships, Access courses, and as of 2023, T-Levels.
The college campus contains facilities that replicate real life working environments for students to learn in. These specialised business units include hairdressing salons and beauty treatment rooms in The Hair & Beauty Lounge, which is open to the public.

It is located 13 miles (21 km) north of Liverpool, 11 miles (18 km) northwest of St Helens, 9 miles (14 km) southeast of Southport and 18 miles (29 km) southwest of Preston. Ormskirk railway station in Ormskirk, Lancashire, England, is a cross-platform interchange between Merseyrail services from Liverpool Central and Northern Trains services from Preston on the Ormskirk branch line, 12+3⁄4 miles (20.5 km) northeast of Liverpool. The station building and three arch road bridge are both Grade II listed structures.
The Skelmersdale branch was a standard gauge railway (SKE) which connected the Liverpool, Ormskirk and Preston Railway at Ormskirk with Rainford Junction via Skelmersdale. At Rainford it connected with the Liverpool and Bury Railway and the St. Helens Railway. It was built by the East Lancashire Railway, which was taken over by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway shortly afterward.

Skelmersdale railway station was a station located on the Skelmersdale branch at Skelmersdale, England. The station was originally named Blague Gate, having its name changed to Skelmersdale on 8 August 1874 and carried passengers from 1858 to 1956.
Malvern Hills Arts and Community College is a non-profit company set up in April 2021 to manage the bid to save the site of the former Malvern Hills College / Malvern School of Art from being sold to developers by its current owners who received the site for free as part of a merger in 2016. Known for a short while from 2009 to 2016 as South Worcestershire College, in August 2016 the college merged with Warwickshire College Group (WCG) and reverted to its historical name. The school was closed down in 2020 by WCG and a campaign, 'Save Malvern Hills College' was set up by arts students, staff, business leaders, councillors, community representatives and educators to try to save the important site and provision. The campaign gained the support of The Bransford Trust who pledged a large sum of money to the project and was followed by grants totaling £800,000.00 by local authorities. As yet no deal has been reached as WCG are keen to get a protective educational covenant overturned, against the community and local authority wishes, in order to maximise sale value. No date has been set for this court date yet.

Skelmersdale is a town in the West Lancashire district of Lancashire, England. It contains 21 listed buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England. All the listed buildings are designated at Grade II, the lowest of the three grades, which is applied to "buildings of national importance and special interest". Originally it was an agricultural community, and later was associated with coal mining. Sine the 1960s most of the area has been occupied by a New Town. Almost all the listed buildings are, or originated as, farmhouses or farm buildings. The other listed buildings are a cottage, a church, and a war memorial.
