The West Virginia Miners are a collegiate summer baseball team located in Beckley, West Virginia. The team began play in the Prospect League for the 2010 season. Home games are played at Linda K. Epling Stadium at the Upper Deck Training Center. It was announced in December 2022 that the Miners would not play in 2023, [1] looking to return in 2024 in a different league. [2] The Miners are not on the 2024 Prospect League schedule. [3]

The Lucky Horseshoes and other collegiate summer leagues and teams exist to give top college players professional-like experience without affecting NCAA eligibility.

Linda K. Epling Stadium is a baseball field in Beckley, West Virginia. It opened in 2010. The field was built by the Epling family after it sold out its interests in the coal business. The stadium seats 2,500. It is used by the West Virginia Miners of the Prospect League and the WVU Tech Golden Bears. The facility has also been the home to select games of the Marshall University baseball team from 2010 to 2018, and was the home for select West Virginia University games in 2012 and 2013.

The 1971 West Virginia Mountaineers football team represented West Virginia University in the 1971 NCAA University Division football season. It was the Mountaineers' 79th overall season and they competed as an independent. The team was led by head coach Bobby Bowden, in his second year, and played their home games at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown, West Virginia. They finished the season with a record of 7–4.

The 1966 West Virginia Mountaineers football team represented West Virginia University in the 1966 NCAA University Division football season. It was the Mountaineers' 74th overall season and they competed as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon). The team was led by head coach Jim Carlen, in his first year, and played their home games at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown, West Virginia. They finished the season with a record of three wins, five losses and two ties.
