The Western Australian Hard Court Open Championships formally known as the Western Australian Hard Court Championships [1] was a combined men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1922 as the Hard Court Championships of the Great Southern District. [2] The tournament was organised by the Western Australia Lawn Tennis Association and first played at the Albany Tennis Club, Mount Lawley Park, Albany, Western Australia. It ran annually until 1983. when it was discontinued [3]
In January 1922 the Hard Court Championships of the Great Southern District was etsblished at the Albany Tennis Club, Mount Lawley Park, Albany, Western Australia, Australia. [4] The first winners of the men's singles was Ronald Coote, [3] and the winner of the women's singles event was Phyllis Richardson. In December 1926 it became a fully sanctioned event of the Western Australia Lawn Tennis Association and the tournament was renamed as the Western Australian State Hard Court Championships. [5]
The championships continued to be held in Albany until 1939. In 1940 they were moved to Geraldton. [3] The event was not held from 1941 to 19454 due to World War II. [3] In 1946 the tournament resumed and was played in Kalgoorlie. [3] It was then held at various location throughout its run including Bruce Rock, Greenville, Katanning, Kukerin, Pingelly and Wongan Hills. [3]
In 1983 the tournament was last held at was discontinued the final winner of the men's singles event was Robert (Bob) Casey. [3] [6] The final women's singles champion was Christine Matison.

Tennis Australia Limited is the governing body for Tennis in Australia. It is owned by Australian states and territories. The association organises national and international Tennis tournaments including the Australian Open, the Australian Open Series, Davis Cup, Fed Cup, ATP Cup and Australian Pro Tour. In addition, the association takes the responsibility to facilitate tennis at all levels from grassroots to elite development. It was played from 1923 until 1979 and the men's event was part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit, 1970 to 1979. From 1945 to 1972 it was known as the Indian International Championships. It was held in various cities in, India and was played outdoor on multiple surfaces.
The Malaysian Open was a combined men's and women's professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts that was originally founded the Malayan Championships. The event has been held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort and The Royal Selangor Golf Club. The tournament ran from 1921 to 1978. It was revived for a second time from 1992 through to 1995. It was staged for the third and final time from 2009 to 2018.
The Suffolk Championships was an open international tennis tournament for both men and women held at Saxmundham, Suffolk, England founded in 1883 as the Saxmundham Lawn Tennis Tournament. In 1893 it was elevated to a county-level event and renamed as the Suffolk County Championships. The championships ran until 1968 when it ceased to be part of ILTC worldwide tennis circuit.

The Middlesex Championships. or Middlesex Lawn Tennis Championships and also known as the Middlesex Open Tennis Championships was a men's and women's grass court tennis founded at the Chiswick Park Lawn Tennis Club,Chiswick Park, Chiswick, Middlesex, Great Britain in 1884 and known as the Chiswick Park Club Open Lawn Tennis Tournament during the early editions of the event. The tournament was staged annually until 1949.
The North of England Championships and later known as the Rothmans Open North of England Championships, was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded in 1884 as the North Yorkshire Tournament. It was mainly held at Scarborough, North Yorkshire, Great Britain from. The tournament was discontinued in 1974 when it was staged at Hoylake.
The East of England Championships also called the East of England Lawn Tennis Championships was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded in 1885 as the Felixstowe Open Lawn Tennis Tournament. In 1889 the event had by this time become a regional level tournament that ran until 1983 when it lost its status as a senior international tour level event. However the championships are still being staged today as the East of England and an LTA British Tour.
The North of England Hard Court Championships and later known as the Wilson North of England Hard Court Tennis Championships for sponsorship reasons was a combined men's and women's clay court tennis tournament established in 1913 and ran until 1988.
The Aldeburgh Open and later known as the Aldeburgh Open Hard Courts was a men's and women's international grass court tennis tournament founded in 1884 as the Aldeburgh Lawn Tennis Tournament. The tournament was organised by the Aldeburgh LTC and first staged at the West Hill grounds, Aldeburgh-on-Sea, Suffolk, England. In 1924 the event switched to clay courts. The tournament ran annually until 1939 when it was discontinued because of World War II.

The Cannes Championships or Championnats de Cannes also known as the Championships of Cannes was a tennis event held from 1897 originally played on outside tennis courts at the Beau Site Tennis Club at the Hôtel Beau Site in Cannes, France, following World War II it was moved to the Cannes Lawn Tennis Club due the hotel being sold for redevelopment. From 1947 the tournament occasionally carried the joint denomination of Cannes International Championships or just Cannes International the tournament ran until 1975. It was one of the main tournaments of the French Riviera tennis circuit.
The Alverstoke Open was an annual combined tennis tournament founded in 1909 as the Gosport Tournament at Alverstoke, Hampshire, England. The tournament was mainly played on grass courts except for the 1921 to 1923 editions which were played on clay courts. The tournament was part of the ILTF Circuit and ended in 1981.
The ACT Open formally known as the Australian Capital Territory Open was a combined men's and women's hard court tennis tournament founded in 1929 as the ACT Championships or Australian Capital Territory Championships. The tournament was organised by the Canberra Lawn Tennis Association and first played at at the Manuka Tennis Courts, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia It ran annually until 1968 as part of the ILTF Circuit, then part of the ILTF Independent Tour until 1977 when it was downgraded.
The New South Wales Hard Court Championships was a men's and women's open tennis tournament founded in 1915, and first held at Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia. It was first organised by the Dubbo District Tennis Association in conjunction with the New South Wales Lawn Tennis Association and was played on clay courts. It was staged as part of ILTF Australasia Circuit a sub circuit of the ILTF World Circuit until 1972, then became part of the ILTF Independent Tour until 1984 and finally part of the Tennis Australia Circuit till 1988 when it was discontinued as a senior event.
The Kenya Open also known as the Kenya Championships was a men's and women's tennis tournament founded in 1934 as the Kenyan International Championships. later called the Kenyan Closed Championships It was organised by the Kenyan Lawn Tennis Association (f.1922), Nairobi, Kenya and played on clay courts and ran until 1986 as part of the ILTF Independent Circuit.
The South-West Districts Championships was a combined men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded in 1950. The tournament was played at the Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club, Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia, and ran annually until 1979 when it was discontinued as part of the ILTF Independent Circuit.
