Whangaroa County was one of the counties of New Zealand on the North Island. In 1989 it became part of the Far North District Council when amalgamated with the Mangonui, Hokianga and Bay of Islands counties, and the Kaitaia and Kaikohe boroughs.

The Tasman Sea is a marginal sea of the South Pacific Ocean, situated between Australia and New Zealand. It measures about 2,000 km (1,200 mi) across and about 2,800 km (1,700 mi) from north to south. The sea was named after the Dutch explorer Abel Janszoon Tasman, who in 1642 was the first known person to cross it. British explorer Lieutenant James Cook later extensively navigated the Tasman Sea in the 1770s during his three voyages of exploration.
The Northland Region is the northernmost of New Zealand's 16 local government regions. New Zealanders sometimes refer to it as the Winterless North because of its mild climate all throughout the year. The main population centre is the city of Whangārei, and the largest town is Kerikeri. At the 2018 New Zealand census, Northland recorded a population growth spurt of 18.1% since the previous 2013 census, placing it as the fastest growing region in New Zealand, ahead of other strong growth regions such as the Bay of Plenty Region and Waikato.
The Northland Peninsula, called the North Auckland Peninsula in earlier times, is in the far north of the North Island of New Zealand. It is joined to the rest of the island by the Auckland isthmus, a narrow piece of land between the Waitematā Harbour and the Manukau Harbour in the middle of the Auckland metropolitan area. The peninsula is not conterminous with the local government area of Northland Region, which occupies the northern 80% of the peninsula. The southern section of the peninsula is administratively part of the Auckland Region.
The Cavalli Islands are a small group of islands near Whangaroa on Northland's East Coast in northern New Zealand. They lie 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the east of Matauri Bay on the mainland.

It flows generally south from the Maungataniwha Range southeast of Kaitaia, and the last few kilometres of its length are a wide, silty arm of the Hokianga Harbour, which it reaches 10 kilometres (6 mi) northeast of Rawene.
The Tākou River is a river of the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows generally east from its sources east of Kaeo to reach the Pacific Ocean at Tākou Bay, 14 km (8.7 mi) north of Kerikeri.
The Waiatoto River is a river of the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Formed from several small rivers which are fed by glaciers surrounding Mount Aspiring, it flows north along a valley flanked in the west by the Haast Range before turning northwest to reach the Tasman Sea 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Haast. Much of the river's length is within Mount Aspiring National Park.
Elaine Bay is a bay located in Pelorus Sound / Te Hoiere, within the Marlborough Sounds at the north end of the South Island of New Zealand. Elaine Bay is in the Tawhitinui Reach, which includes other bays such as Tennyson Inlet, Fitzroy Bay and Hallum Cove. The bay is accessed by the Elaine Bay Road, which connects with the Croisilles-French Pass Road at the top of the ridge.
Lauriston is a lightly populated locality in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is situated on the Canterbury Plains south of the Rakaia River, some 20 kilometres (12 mi) inland from Rakaia. It was named after one of its pioneer settlers with the name of Laurie.

Hobson County was one of the counties of New Zealand in the North Island, from 1876 until 1989. It came into existence in November 1876, when the provinces were abolished. The county seat was at Aratapu, on the western bank of the Wairoa River, 9.5 kilometres (5.9 mi) south of Dargaville, until 1909, when it moved to Dargaville. In 1908, the town of Dargaville and neighboroughing Mangawhare split from Hobson County to form Dargaville Borough. In the 1989 local government reforms, Hobson County re-amalgamated with Dargaville Borough and merged with Otamatea County and parts of Rodney County and Whangarei County to create Kaipara District.
