Whitman Park is a crime and drug-infested neighborhood. However, businesses have started to move into Whitman Park in recent years. [2] [ why? ] Due to high crime and murder rates, police have installed gunshot-recording microphones in Whitman Park. [3] In 2015, the city of Camden submitted a redevelopment plan for the neighborhood. [4] It is home to a substantial Polish American community, centered around the St. Joseph's Church. [5]

Riverfront State Prison (RSP) is a former prison in Camden, New Jersey, that was operated by the New Jersey Department of Corrections from August 12, 1985, to 2009. It was located in the neighborhood of Cooper Point at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Elm Street.
Canal Crossing is a New Urbanism project on the eastern side of Jersey City, New Jersey between Jackson Hill in Greenville/Bergen-Lafayette and Liberty State Park. The approximately 111-acre (45 ha) area, previously designated for industrial and distribution uses has been re-zoned for transit-oriented residential and commercial use and the construction of a neighborhood characterized as a sustainable community. The name is inspired by the Morris Canal, which once traversed the district in a general north and south alignment. The brownfield site must first undergo remediation of toxic waste, much of it left by PPG Industries The redevelopment plans call for 7,000 housing units, mainly "mid-rise" buildings, and a greenway along the former canal, directly south of the 17-acre (6.9 ha) Berry Lane Park.

The neighborhood is home to the Cooper-Grant Historic District which includes 93 buildings spread over 250 acres. Cramer Hill is a neighborhood in the East Camden section of the City of Camden, New Jersey. Cramer Hill was formed upon the annexation of Stockton town by the City of Camden on March 24, 1899. In the early days of East Camden, Cramer Hill was one of several constituent neighborhood names that included Pavonia, Beideman, Stockton, Rosedale, and Marlton. The Pavonia name has become obsolete; Beideman was once known as "North Cramer Hill". The boundaries of Cramer Hill are sometimes considered to be State Street to the south, the Pavonia Railroad Yard and railroad lines to the east, 36th Street to the north, and the Delaware River to the west. Cramer Hill is located in the northeastern section of Camden. The primary road running through Cramer Hill is River Road, which runs southwest to northeast. River Road is a county road known as CR 543. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the neighborhood has a population of 4,358.

Hopeworks 'N Camden is a nonprofit organisation founded in 2000 in Camden, New Jersey, United States, to help young people in the city aged 14–25 to return to school and achieve employment. The program tutors and mentors high school students, as well as out-of-school youths, and offers courses in website development, geographic information system mapping and administration. Also, Hopeworks Youth Healing Team offers training and consultation to schools and nonprofits on working with traumatized youths and adults.
History of Camden, New Jersey is a varied history that starts with the introduction of Quakers into the native Lenape population. Throughout the city's history there have been times of economic growth and development; as well as stagnation and decline. The current demographics show Camden to currently be in a population decline, economic decline, and crime rate decline. Once known for violent crime statistics, Camden has seen a decrease in this number since restructuring their police force. Some major changes that have created economic decline revolve around the history of major employers and their interaction with the local population, the changes war brought to the United States over the decades, changes in the crime rates, and the changing face of population demographics.
