WhoSampled is a website and app database of information about sampled music or sample-based music, interpolations, cover songs and remixes. As of November 2024, the website features 1,114,000 songs and 342,000 artists in its catalog.
Nadav Poraz founded the site in London, England in 2008, as a way to track musical samples and cover songs. Mobile apps were released in 2012 and 2014 for iPhone and Android, respectively. [5] The website's database is user-generated and reviewed by moderators before the content goes live. As of 2024, the site's most sampled track is "Amen, Brother" by the Winstons, which contains the most sampled drum break in music history, having been sampled in more than 6,600 songs. [6] [7] In 2015, the site added support for film and television clips. [8] The following year, it partnered with Spotify [9] and introduced 6D, a six degrees of separation-inspired game, that tracks relationships between artists, producers, and their tracks. [10] In October 2017, WhoSampled partnered with KPM and Ableton and organised the third 'Samplethon' competition at Point Blank Studios in London. [11] [12] [13]

It serves as the main theme song to Otto Preminger's epic film Exodus, based on the 1958 novel of the same name by Leon Uris, which tells the story of founding of the modern State of Israel. Users could subscribe to groups and locations to view and listen to relevant and trending songs. Soundwave was launched on June 20, 2013. Soundwave was acquired by Spotify in 2016. Their former domain name is now registered through a domain privacy service and resolves to an unrelated website.

During the recording process of Anti, Rihanna rented a house in Malibu over several months and started extensively writing and composing music with her team consisting of various musicians. Their efforts resulted in the mid-tempo indie rock song featuring deep synths and vocal samples.

"To the Max" is a song written and performed by American musician DJ Khaled, featuring Canadian rapper Drake. The song was released on June 5, 2017, by We the Best and Epic Records as a promotional single from Khaled's tenth studio album, Grateful (2017). It however was removed from the album and legal streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. The song contains a sample of the 2007 song "Heartbroken" by British artists T2 and Jodie Aysha. American DJ Jayhood remixed "Heartbroken" in 2009 then later in 2015, Haitian-American producer JayO remixed DJ Jayhood's remix of "Heartbroken" and named it "Gus Get Em Right". All the above remixes of "Heartbroken" were used by DJ Khaled without credits to, or permission from T2 and Jodie Aysha. A further sample used includes "Lit" by 1WayFrank.
