William Wheeler Brash III (born July 15,1951) [1] is an American lawyer and jurist from Wisconsin. He served as the chief judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals from 2021 through 2023,and was a member of the Milwaukee-based District I court from 2015 through 2023. He previously served 15 years as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Milwaukee County.
Born in Panama [1] [2] and raised in Fox Point,Wisconsin,Brash received his B.A. degree from St. Norbert College in 1973 and his J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School in 1978. He practiced law and was a business owner. He served as a municipal judge in Fox Point from 1984 to 1997,and then as a reserve municipal judge for Milwaukee from 1997 until 2001. [2]
In November 2001 he was appointed to the Wisconsin Circuit Court in Milwaukee County by Governor Scott McCallum. He was re-elected to the Circuit Court in 2002,2008,and 2014. In 2015,Governor Scott Walker appointed Brash to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals to fill the vacancy created by his appointment of Judge Rebecca Bradley to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Brash won a full term on the court without opposition in the spring election of 2017. [3] [4] [5] He is currently the Presiding Judge for District I. [1] On June 28,2021,the Wisconsin Supreme Court issued an order naming him the next chief judge,effective August 1,2021. [6]
On April 4,2023,Brash lost his reelection bid to labor lawyer Sara Geenen. [7]
Judge Brash and his wife,Ruth,have one son and reside in Fox Point,Wisconsin.

Patience Drake "Pat" Roggensack is a retired American attorney and jurist. She was the 26th chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court (2015–2021), and served 20 years on the high court, from 2003 through 2023.
The Wisconsin Court of Appeals is an intermediate appellate court that reviews contested decisions of the Wisconsin circuit courts. The Court of Appeals was created in August 1978 to alleviate the Wisconsin Supreme Court's rising number of appellate cases. Published Court of Appeals opinions are considered binding precedent until overruled by the Supreme Court; unpublished opinions are not. The Court hears most appeals in three-judge panels, but appeals of circuit court decisions in misdemeanor, small claims, and municipal ordinance cases are decided by a single judge.
Annette Kingsland Ziegler is an American jurist serving as chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court since May 2021. She has been a member of the court since 2007, and is generally regarded as part of its conservative wing. Ziegler served as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Washington County from 1997 to 2007.
Pedro A. Colón is an American lawyer, jurist, and Democratic politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Milwaukee County, serving since 2010. In June 2023, he was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, scheduled to take office in November 2023. He previously served six terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 8th Assembly district from 1999 to 2010. He was the first Latino elected to the Wisconsin Legislature, and when sworn in as judge of the Court of Appeals, he will also be the first Latino in that office.
Lisa Neubauer is an American lawyer and judge, currently serving as a judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in the Waukesha-based District II. Judge Neubauer has served on the Court of Appeals since 2007 and was chief judge from 2015 through 2021.
The 2012 Wisconsin gubernatorial recall election was a special election to elect the governor and lieutenant governor of Wisconsin. It resulted in voters re-electing incumbent Republican governor Scott Walker over the Democratic candidate Tom Barrett by a larger margin than he had in 2010, in which Walker had also faced Barrett. Recall organizers opposed Walker's agenda, particularly his limiting of collective bargaining rights for state employees and they collected over 900,000 signatures to initiate the recall election process. There was also a recall for Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch. She won her race, defeating Democrat Mahlon Mitchell, making her the first lieutenant governor to run in and survive a recall.

Gregory B. Gill, Jr. is an American attorney and judge. He is currently serving as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Outagamie County, since 2011, but was elected in April 2021 to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, with a term set to begin August 1, 2021.

The featured race at the top of the ticket was for an open seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which became the most expensive judicial election in history. Several other nonpartisan local and judicial offices were also decided on the April 4 ballot, including mayoral elections in some of Wisconsin's larger cities—Green Bay, Madison, and Racine. She previously served seven years as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Waukesha County. During the administration of Governor Scott Walker, she worked as an assistant attorney general in the Wisconsin Department of Justice and handled significant litigation, including lawsuits over redistricting and the controversial "budget repair" bill.
