William Walond (bap. 4 January 1750 - 9 February 1836) [1] [2] was an English organist, and the last 'Organist' of Chichester Cathedral before the post was merged with 'Master of the Choristers' in 1801.
Walond was the son of English composer and organist William Walond Sr. (1719-1768). [1] He became the third of Thomas Capell's Deputy Organists at Chichester Cathedral, following Richard Hall and Thomas Tremain. He succeeded Capell following his death in 1776. Walond resigned the role of Master of the Choristers in 1794, and passed it to a Lay Vicar, Thomas Barber, who was paid by Walond out of his own salary.
During Walond's Organistship at Chichester, additions were made to the Cathedral organ by Thomas Knight, including the provision of the third manual (swell organ). [3]

The Southern Cathedrals Festival is a 5-day music festival held on rotation among the cathedrals of Chichester, Winchester and Salisbury in England, in the penultimate week of July. The festival was restored in 1960 after initial attempts to create the annual occasion - such efforts led to 28 years without it. The directors of music act as festival director when it is their cathedral's turn to host the event - currently, they are Charles Harrison, Andrew Lumsden and David Halls.

She is notable as one of the earliest women to be appointed to the senior music post at a Church of England cathedral. She was married to counter-tenor David Hurley. Baldock has become known as a popular soloist in the UK and abroad.
Jeremy Suter is an English organist and choral director. He was a chorister under Sir William McKie at Westminster Abbey. He attended Harrow and later spent two years at the Royal College of Music before going to Oxford as Organ Scholar of Magdalen College under Bernard Rose. Following a year at the University of Pennsylvania, Jeremy was invited to return to Magdalen College, Oxford, in order to direct the Chapel Choir whilst Bernard Rose took a sabbatical. In 1975 he was appointed Organist of the Civic Church of All Saints', Northampton and Director of Music at All Saints' Middle School. Between 1981 and 1991 he was Assistant Organist at Chichester Cathedral and Director of Music at the Prebendal School. He featured on many broadcasts and recordings made by the Choir of Chichester Cathedral. Since taking up his appointment in 1991 as Master of the Music at Carlisle Cathedral Jeremy has been enhancing the reputation of the Cathedral Choir. Jeremy has been appointed Director of Music of Abbey Singers from January 2001.

There has been organ music at Chichester Cathedral almost continuously since the medieval period, with a break in the mid-17th century during the Commonwealth period.
