Windsor is located in central Alachua County, east of Gainesville, at 29°38′47″N82°11′11″W / 29.64639°N 82.18639°W Coordinates: 29°38′47″N82°11′11″W / 29.64639°N 82.18639°W (29.64639, -82.18639), and has a total area of 0.8776 sq mi (2.273 km2). [2]
Windsor was named by English cotton planters who settled the town in 1846. New residents from both northern and southern states were attracted by the development of citrus culture in the area. By the end of the Reconstruction era, Windsor was prospering, and in 1884 a post office was established. The town had a population of over 400 in the mid-1880s. [3] In the 1890s the town boasted a doctor, three stores, a real estate office, a grist mill, two sawmills, and factories producing boxes, cedar baskets and fertilizer. Severe freezes in 1884, 1895, and 1899 devastated the orange groves and as a result Windsor's population declined. The post office closed in 1936. [4]
Windsor is known for its annual Zucchini Festival in May. [5]

Rochelle is an unincorporated community in Alachua County, Florida, United States. It was found in the 1830s on a former native settlement and mission site. Rochelle was at a junction on the Florida Southern Railway, with lines running to Gainesville, Ocala and Palatka. Citrus growing became important in the area, and in 1885 the town had two sawmills, two churches, two schools, and a couple dozen houses. The Great Freeze of 1894–1895 destroyed the citrus industry in the area, and the town declined afterwards. The Rochelle School closed in 1935.
The Third Congressional District of Florida is an electoral district of the United States House of Representatives located in the U.S. state of Florida. It presently comprises a large section of northernmost Florida, including the entire counties of Alachua, Clay, Putnam, Bradford and Union, along with the majority of Marion county. The cities of Gainesville and Palatka are in the district as well as part of Ocala. Some Jacksonville suburbs such as Middleburg, Green Cove Springs, and Orange Park are also in the district.
