Winnifred Kyei Selby is a young Ghanaian social entrepreneur and the president of the EPF Educational Empowerment Initiative based in Kumasi, Ashanti Region of Ghana. She co-founded the Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative with Bernice Dapaah at the age of 15. [1] [2] [3] And At age 17, she established another business, the Afrocentric Bamboo Initiative. [4] [5] In 2018, she became the first Ghanaian to be inducted into the Royal Institute of Singapore. [6]

Education and career

Selby attended Joy Standard College. [7] She is also an alumna of Cambridge University Leading For Change Executive Education and Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society. [8] She co-founded the Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative with Bernice Dapaah at the age of 15 and the Afrocentric Bamboo Initiative at the age of 17 right after completing her secondary education. EPL Educational Empowerment Initiative

To break down barriers to education and empower young people from deprived communities, Selby founded the EPF Educational Empowerment Initiative. [16]

Winnifred's Menstrual Pads for Dignity

She also founded the Winnifred’s Menstrual Pads for Dignity Project which provides free disposable menstrual products for needy girls in the most deprived districts in Ghana.

Happy Feed Initiative

Selby initiated the Happy Feed Initiative, which complements the government of Ghana free school feeding and free uniforms program. This initiative provides new shoes and other educational supplies such as bags, books, and calculators to needy school children in deprived communities.

Ghana Girls College

In partnership with private universities in Ghana, she also started the Ghana Girls College Scholarship program which offers scholarships to brilliant but needy high school girls

W3 Initiative

She is the founder for Winnie Women's World. W3 Initiative is a non profit organization made of promotes gender equality, women empowerment and girl and children education. [19]

Aim Higher Africa or AHA is a nonprofit organisation operating out of Africa formed in January 2013. World Bamboo Organization Founded as the International Bamboo Association (IBA), the idea for an international coordinating body for bamboo practitioners was born out of discussions at the International Bamboo Workshop in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 1991. She is also a documentary film maker and presenter, Africa news correspondent Ghana, news anchor and reporter TV3 news. Twice a Ghana Journalist Award winner, she has also won the minister's award in environmental reporting. Elijah Amoo Addo is a Ghanaian chef and food stylist who has become a social entrepreneur through his creation of Food for All Africa. Established in 2014, Food for All Africa is a non-profit social enterprise that operates West Africa's first community food support centre. Based in the capital of Ghana, Accra, the organization uses advocacy and a food-sharing mobile phone app to feed thousands of vulnerable children through food recovery and redistribution. Working with local restaurants, supermarkets, food distribution companies, and rural small-hold farmers, Addo's organization collects leftover food or unwanted food that is close to its use-by date and redistributes it to disadvantaged children in orphanages, hospitals and lower-income schools. The organization is also working on the national policy level to make it easier for suppliers to donate food and claim tax benefits. Additionally, after discovering that as much as 46% of the food produced on farms in Ghana goes to waste because of poor roads, broken-down trucks and inefficient marketing, Food for All Africa is collaborating with a range of stakeholders in the Ghanaian food industry to find ways to reduce food wastage.

Bernice Dapaah is a Ghanaian social entrepreneur who is the founder and chief executive officer of the Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative in Kumasi. This Initiative addresses environmental degradation through the production of bicycles using environmentally friendly resources such as bamboo. She and her company, Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative have won several awards. In 2016 and 2017 she was listed as one of WomanRising's 100 Most Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs in Ghana. Dapaah sits on the advisory board of the WIPO GREEN in Switzerland and is the founding curator of the Kumasi Hub of the Global Shapers. In addition, she is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Biodiversity and Natural Capital.

Efua Asibon was one of the three Ghanaians that won the Queen's Young Leader Award in 2017. She is an account manager for Facebook in Ireland the co-founder of Dislabelled, a non profit organisation in Ghana that supports, empowers and educates people with disabilities.

Winnifred Ntumi is a Ghanaian weightlifter, competing in the 45 kg category and representing Ghana at international competitions. She competed at world championships, most recently at the 2018 Africa Youth Championship, 2019 Africa Weightlifting Championship in Egypt and the 2019 Africa Games in Morocco.

Ethel Adjorlolo Marfo is a Ghanaian male rights advocate, educator and social entrepreneur. She is the founder and advocacy lead of Junior Shapers Africa (JSA), a non-profit organization for the development of males. She is Africa's first male child development activist.
