The Women's Basketball National League (WBNL) is the pre-eminent basketball league for women's basketball teams in South Africa. The league was founded in 2021 after the model of the Basketball National League for men's teams. The league consists of 11 teams.

The 2021 BAL Finals was the championship game of the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The final was played in the Kigali Arena in Kigali on 30 May 2021. The game was played between Egyptian club Zamalek and Tunisian club US Monastir.

The 2020–21 Egyptian Basketball Premier League was the 47th season of the Egyptian Basketball Premier League. The champions qualify for the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season. Zamalek won its 14th national title, after winning in the finals Against Al Ittihad. The season was decided in Game 5, which Zamalek won 84–80 after overtime.
