The Gozitan Women's League was the highest division in Gozitan women league football that for a brief stint took place in Gozo, Malta. It was organised by the Gozo Football Association.

History

The Gozitan Women's League, which was played on a seven-a-side basis, was organised during the 2007–2008 and 2008–2009 seasons. The first edition was contested by five teams whereas the second edition was contested by four teams.

Structure

In the first edition, each club played each other three teams whereas during the 2008–2009 season, each club played each other four times. Three points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. Being the only division in Gozitan women league football, the bottom club was not relegated.

The Gozo Women's Cup was a football competition that took place in Gozo, Malta and that was organised by the Gozo Football Association.

This competition was contested on a knock-out basis by the clubs of the Gozitan Women's League. The first Women's Cup took place in the season 2007–2008 and the last edition was held during the subsequent season.

Kercem Ajax won the first edition [3] whereas S.K. Victoria Wanderers won the second edition. [4] In both instances, Xaghra United ended runners-up. [3] [4]

The Gozo Stadium, which is located in Xewkija, seats only 1,644 people but its standing areas at each end of its main stand ensure that the stadium can hold up to approximately 3,800 people Similar to National Stadium in Malta, the Gozo Stadium is the main venue of the local top division, the Gozo Football League First Division, and the finals of all cups organised by the Gozo Football Association are generally held at the stadium.

The 2008–09 Gozo First Division, also known as the ONVOL First Division due to sponsorship reasons, was the 61st season of the Gozitan First Division, which saw Sannat Lions declared champions for the first time in 19 years. The league started on 17 September 2008 with a match between Sannat Lions and SK Victoria Wanderers where the Victoria-based side won 3–0, with Ige Adesina being the first scorer of the season.

Kerċem Ajax Football Club is a Gozitan, Malta, football club from the village of Kerċem, which plays in the Gozo First Division. Kerċem Ajax won the Gozitan Second Division 2011–2012 season with 50 points, an unbeaten season. Ajax won other two competitions in Gozitan football competitions, the Second Division Knock-Out against Munxar Falcons with the score of 2–0 and the Second Division Super Cup against Munxar Falcons with the score of 7–0. Ajax was promoted to Gozo First Division for the season 2012–2013. They beat Nadur Youngsters in 2013 winning the GFA Cup; the whites had the distinction of holding high all Gozo's 5 trophies. The Greens also introduced to the Maltese football players like Alfred Effiong and Jeremiah Ani apart from former international players like Stoyko Sakaliev. The Greens won in 1985 the Gozo First Division and at other times the GFA Cup, GFA Super Cup, Independence Cup and Freedom Day Cup.

The Gozitan First Division, known for sponsorship reasons as the BOV GFL First Division, is the top division of the Gozo Football League, the league competition for men's football clubs in Gozo.

The Gozo Football League Second Division, known as BOV GFL Second Division for sponsorship reasons, is the second and lowest level in the Gozo Football League. The league was first competed in 1948.

The 2017–18 Maltese FA Trophy was the 80th version of the football tournament. It was sponsored by Boost Diesel, which was revealed during the draws of the first, second and third round of the Maltese FA Trophy at the Trophies Lounge in Malta Football Association headquarters in Ta' Qali. A total of sixty–four clubs participated in this season's cup competition.

The 2017–18 Gozo First Division was the 71st season of the Gozo Football League First Division, the highest division in Gozitan football. The season began on 15 September 2017.

The 2018–19 Gozo First Division was the 72nd season of the Gozo Football League First Division, the highest division in Gozitan football. The season began on 14 September 2018. Victoria Hotspurs were able to defend the title won the previous season, winning their thirteenth title in their history.

The 2019–20 Maltese FA Trophy was the 82nd edition of the football cup competition.

The 2019–20 Gozo First Division was the 73rd season of the Gozo Football League First Division, the highest division in Gozitan football. The season started on 20 September 2019. Victoria Hotspurs were the defending champions after winning their thirteenth title in the previous season.

The 2022–23 season was the annual competitive association football season in Gozo organised by the Gozo Football Association for 2022–23.

Fontana Football Club was a Maltese football club from the village of Fontana, Gozo. Following some unofficial appearances under Fontana F.C., the club was officially founded under the name St. Andrew's in 1952. After several re-organisations, the club folded for good following the conclusion of the 1968-69 football season.

The Gozo Third Division was the third-highest division in Gozitan league football that for a brief stint took place in Gozo, Malta. It was organised by the Gozo Football Association.
