The Wushu and Kungfu competition at the 2009 Asian Martial Arts Games took place from 5 August to 8 August at the Silpa-archa Gymnasium, in Suphanburi Sports Center. Three events were cancelled due to lack of entries.

Li Lianjie, better known by his stage name Jet Li, is a Chinese-born Singaporean martial artist, actor, and philanthropist. The 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament was a wushu competition which was held from August 21 to 24, 2008 at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Beijing, China. The tournament was organised by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG), the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), and the Chinese Wushu Association (CWA), and was held in tandem with the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Women's wushu was contested at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi, Vietnam from November 4 to November 7. The competition took place at Trịnh Hoài Đức Gymnasium.

Wushu was contested by both men and women at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea from October 10 to October 13, 2002. It was included competitions in the disciplines of Taijiquan, Taijijian, Changquan, Daoshu, Jianshu, Gunshu, Qiangshu, Nanquan, Nangun, Nandao, and Sanshou. All events were held at Dongseo University Minseok Sports Center.

Wushu was contested by both men and women at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China from November 13 to 17, 2010. All events were held at Nansha Gymnasium.

The World Combat Games is an international multi-sport event featuring combat sports and martial arts. The games were founded by SportAccord as a way of bringing various martial arts and combative sports to an international audience. The World Combat Games are also accompanied by a cultural program that reflects the ancient traditions and values of martial arts as well as their contribution to modern society. The games are recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

The 2022 World Games, commonly known as Birmingham 2022, were an international multi-sport event held from July 7 to 17, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. Wushu was contested by both men and women at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea from September 20 to 24, 2014. All events were held at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium.

The wushu competitions at the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur were held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Ng Shin Yii was a Malaysian wushu athlete. She retired at age 27 from international wushu after competing at the World Taijiquan Championships in Poland. She competed in the Taijiquan and Taijijian taolu events. Up until her retirement in 2016, she had represented Malaysia in every World Wushu Championships since 2009, winning one silver and one bronze in the 2009 and 2015 Championships respectively. She competed in the first two World Taijiquan Championships in Dujiangyan and Warsaw achieving three silver medals. At the age of 17, she won a bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.

Wushu at the 2018 Asian Games was held at the Jakarta International Expo, Jakarta, Indonesia, from 19 to 23 August 2018.

Iran competed in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Iran has competed at the Asian Games since the first event in 1951 Delhi, and the best achievement was in 1974, when the country hosted the event in Tehran, by ranked second with the acquisition of 36 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze medals. At the latest edition in Incheon, the country wrapped up its campaign with 57 medals in all - 21 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze.

The 2023 World Wushu Championships was the 16th edition of the World Wushu Championships. It was held at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas, United States, from November 16 to 20, 2023.

The Asian Wushu Championships is a continental wushu championship hosted by the Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA), the official continental representative to the International Wushu Federation. The competition is open to the 37 member nations of the WFA and their respective national teams. Unlike other continental wushu competitions which are held every two years, the Asian Wushu Championships is held every four years to make way for wushu at the Asian Games.

Park Chan-dae is a South Korean retired competitive wushu taolu athlete who is currently the coach of the Korean wushu team. During the 1990s, he became one the most successful wushu athletes outside of China. He was a six-time world champion and has achieved victories at the Asian Games and the East Asian Games.
