XIX is the debut extended play by South Korean boy group 1the9, a project group created through the 2018 MBC survival show, Under Nineteen , composed of nine trainees from different entertainment companies that will promote for 12 months under MBK Entertainment. The album was released digitally on April 13, 2019, by MBK Entertainment.
On February 9, the finalists in survival show Under Nineteen were revealed and the group immediately started preparations for their debut, starting with arranging their own version of the song "Like a Magic" (which was first released as one of the final song for 9 of the Top 19 finalists), performing on Show! Music Core as a warm-up for their group sound. "Like a Magic" did not end up being officially released with the final line up and on the EP, "Domino", [1] a song produced in seven days by Crush [2] [3] [4] was released with a music video as a promotional single. [5] Lead single "Spotlight" was later released in three different music video versions. [6]
Prior to their debut, the group began promotions through their reality show Wonderland, which premiered on March 22, 2019, on the cable channel MBC. [7] A series of individual teasers was released per member before the debut timeline was announced. [8] [9] The first set of concept photos were later released. [10]

Shannon Arrum Williams, known professionally as Shannon, is a British-South Korean streamer, and former singer currently based in England. She is known for being a contestant of K-pop Star 6: The Last Chance. Prior to debut, Shannon has released two single: "Day and Night" with T-ara's Areum and Gavy NJ's Gun-ji in September 2012 and then "Remember You" featuring SPEED's Jungkook in January 2014 before making her official debuted in December 2014 with digital single "Daybreak Rain". Since her debut, she has released two extended plays, six singles and three soundtrack appearances. In 2016, Shannon also made her debut as an actress with cast in drama Moorim School: Saga of the Brave.

Lee Dae-hwi, also known mononymously as Daehwi, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, producer and television personality. He is a member of South Korean boy group AB6IX, and is known for his participation in the reality competition show Produce 101 Season 2, where he finished in third place overall and became a member of the boy group Wanna One. In addition to singing and writing songs for various artists, he guest hosted and then became the permanent host for the long-time running variety show M Countdown.

Under Nineteen (Korean: 언더나인틴) was a survival show on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation for trainees under the age of 19 years old. There were a total of 57 contestants competing to debut as a member of 1THE9. The trainees were put into groups that specializes in vocals, rapping, and performance. The show aired between November 3, 2018 and February 9, 2019.

The group's debuting members were announced on February 9, 2019 and was initially slated to be promoting under PocketDol Studio for 12 months. After delays surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the group disbanded in August 2020.
