Yadgar Club, formerly known as Victoria Memorial Hall, is a colonial-era building situated in Muzaffargarh, Pakistan. [1]

Contents

Built in 1909, the building was initially named the Victoria Memorial Hall before the Deputy Commissioner of Dera Ghazi Khan renamed it to Yadgar Club in 1988. [2] [3] [1] The total area of Yadgar Club is 18 Kanals. [4] Yadgar Club was renovated in 2019 [5] after being neglected for many decades. [2]

History

The building was constructed in the memory of Queen Victoria who died in 1901. [5] This building was built with the donations from the general public and government officials. [1] Lala Kedar Nath, District Judge, supervised the construction of building. [1] The club was used by the Muzaffargarh Club, District Board and Government Girls College at different times. [1] The District Board and Government Girls College got separate buildings later.

Faisal Stadium is situated in Muzaffargarh, Pakistan. This is multi-purpose stadium. The stadium has basket ball court, cricket ground, squash court, wrestling ground, an auditorium and grass plot. This is biggest ground of city for sports and political events. The main ground is used for cricket, football and hockey matches as well as political events.

Shuja Khan was governor of Multan. He was father of Nawab Muzaffar Khan. Nawab Shuja Khan, the second son of Nawab Zahid Khan, who was twice remained the governor (Subedar) of Multan under Ahmad Shah Durrani's rule. Nawab Shuja Khan founded the Shujabad town in 1750 and built the fortification wall between 1767 and 1772. Nawab Shuja Khan died in 1775 AD. He was buried outside Basti Khairpur.

Nawab Zahid Khan was the Afghan ruler of Multan. He was father of Shuja Khan and grand father of Nawab Muzaffar Khan. He was the first person of his family who became Nawab of Multan in 1738 following the invasion of Nader Shah. He died in 1749 in a battle at Multan with the Mughals.

Tomb of Tahir Khan Nahar is situated at Seet pur, Muzaffargarh, Pakistan. This tomb is protected by the Federal Government of Pakistan. The tomb of Tahir Khan Nahar situated in central Sitpur (Seetpur), a town in southern Punjab near the confluence of the Indus River and Chenab River. Tahir Khan Nahar built the present tomb and mosque at seetpur in his lifetime, at the close of fifteenth century A.D. The tomb of Tahir Khan Nahar bears very close resemblance with the Tomb of Shah Rukn-e-Alam at Multan that was built around 1320.

Tahir Khan Nahar also known as ‘Sakhi’ was chief of his independent kingdom in Seet pur. In 1455 A.D. Bahlul Lodi gave a large treaty to his relative Islam Khan Lodhi. He adopted the title Nahar. Tahir Khan Nahar was the grandson of Islam Khan Nahar. Tahir Khan Nahar is very famous for his tomb. He constructed his tomb in his lifetime in around 1530. This tomb is included in cultural heritage sites in Muzaffargarh and protected by protected by the Federal Government of Pakistan.

Muzaffargarh Tehsil, is a tehsil of Muzaffargarh District that falls in DG Khan Division, in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
