Yanbu International School (YIS) was an accredited K -12 college preparatory school offering an American curriculum open to students of all nationalities. It was located in the residential area of the Royal Commission of the coastal city of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. Accredited by the Middle States Association, it was part of the International Schools Group, an organization that runs eight schools across Saudi Arabia. It was directed by the head district and the Board of Trustees in Dhahran, and licensed by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education. In July 2018, the school officially shut down and is no longer open.

History

Established by the Royal Commission in 1979, Yanbu International School was initially administered by International Schools Services, Inc. Then, in 1988, YIS became a member of Saudi Arabian International Schools, Dhahran District (SAIS-DD). Finally in 1998, it became a part of International Schools Group (ISG).

YIS was accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Closure

It was announced that as of July 31, 2018, International Schools Group would no longer operate Yanbu International School. [1]

There are three areas recognized by the inhabitants in the Dhahran camp. The first built is known as the Main Camp. It is the oldest part and the busiest as it contains most of the shops/parks. The second area, known as the Hills, is the quietest since it is mostly residential and more family friendly. In 2017, a new residential area was opened by Saudi Aramco and named Jebel Heights which is an extension of the entire camp.

King Fahd International Airport, also known as Dammam International Airport or simply Dammam Airport or King Fahd Airport, is the international airport serving Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The airport is located 31 kilometres northwest of downtown Dammam and is named after the former King of Saudi Arabia, Fahd ibn Abdulaziz. The airport serves the entire Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and is one of the three primary international airports in the kingdom. American School Dhahran Private school in Eastern Province

American School Dhahran (ASD) is a coeducational day K-12 school located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia as part of the International Schools Group. Founded in 1962 as Dhahran Academy, the non-profit school primarily served children of the staff of the US Consulate in Dhahran. Dhahran Academy was renamed to be Dhahran High School in 1999 after the school moved to provide a full K-12 American curriculum. In 2021, ISG's Dhahran Elementary Middle School and Dhahran High School merged to become the American School Dhahran.
