Because of his further successes in wrestling, Gergov was selected as one of eleven athletes for the Bulgarian Sports Personality Award in 2007.

Mostafa Mohamed is an amateur Egyptian Greco-Roman wrestler, who played for the men's featherweight category. Mostafa represented Egypt at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's 55 kg class. He received a bye for the preliminary round of sixteen match, before losing out to Azerbaijan's Rovshan Bayramov, with a technical score of 0–12. Because his opponent advanced further into the final match, Mohamed offered another shot for the bronze medal by entering the repechage bouts. He was defeated in the first round by Cuba's Yagnier Hernández, who was able to score nine points in two straight periods, leaving Mohamed with a single point.
Ashraf Mohamed El-Meligy El-Gharably is an amateur Egyptian Greco-Roman wrestler, who played for the men's lightweight category. He is a two-time All-Africa Games gold medalist, a three-time Olympian, and a multiple-time African wrestling champion. He also captured a bronze medal at the 2001 Mediterranean Games in Tunis, Tunisia, and eventually defeated Serbia and Montenegro's Davor Štefanek for the gold at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain.
Badri Khasaia is an amateur Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler, who played for the men's light heavyweight category. He won a silver medal for his division at the 2002 World Wrestling Championships in Moscow, Russia, and bronze at the 2007 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. Vala is also a three-time Olympian, and a member of the wrestling team for PSK Olymp Praha under his personal coach Ervin Varga.
Rafael Barreno Martínez is an amateur Venezuelan Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's super heavyweight category. Considering one of South America's top Greco-Roman wrestlers in his decade, Barreno has claimed a prestigious gold medal at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, produced a staggering tally of four medals at the Pan American Games, and also represented as part of the Venezuelan team in two editions of the Olympic Games. Throughout his sporting career, Barreno currently trains for Pena Gillit Wrestling Club in his native town Punto Fijo, under his personal coach Milcho Radulovski.
Sajjad Barzi is a retired amateur Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's super heavyweight category. Barzi has claimed three medals in the 120-kg division at the Asian Championships, and later finished fourth at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Throughout his sporting career, Barzi trained full-time for Hafti Wrestling Club in Tehran, under his head coach Hassan Babak.
