The Yashadamini Puraskar is awarded by the Government of Goa state in (India). It is an annual award conferred by the Directorate of Women & Child Development of the Government of Goa. [1] The award was established in 2001. [2]

Description

The award aims to encourage women in different fields. It is awarded to the women who have made a mark in various fields, such as sports, education, art and culture, social work, cooperative movement, women empowerment, teaching and other professions, etc. [1]

The prize consists of a cash award of Rupees Ten Thousand and a silver salver. [1]

Madhav Manjunath Shanbhag was an Indian lawyer and activist on behalf of the Konkani people. He was born in Karwar, Karnataka. With a few like-minded companions he travelled in all the Konkani-speaking areas, seeking to unite the fragmented Konkani community under the banner of 'one language, one script, one literature'. He succeeded in organizing the first Adhiveshan of All India Konkani Parishad in Karwar in 1939.

Goa is a state on the southwestern coast of India within the Konkan region, geographically separated from the Deccan highlands by the Western Ghats. B. D. Satoskar was a historian, freedom fighter, publisher and journalist from the state of Goa, India. He was born in Mashel village of Goa. Satoskar has authored many books in Marathi as well as Konkani. He is best known for Gomantak prakriti ani Sanskriti, an encyclopedic work on history and culture of Goa and the Goans. This work was republished on occasion of his birth centenary, in March 2009.

The Nari Shakti Puraskar is an annual award given by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India to individual women or to institutions that work towards the cause of women empowerment. It is the highest civilian honour for women in India, and is presented by the president of India on International Women's Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The award was instituted in 1999 under the title of Stree Shakti Puraskar, renamed and reorganised in 2015. It is awarded in six institutional and two individual categories, which carry a cash prize of 200,000 and 100,000 rupees, respectively.

The Yuva Srujan Puraskar (Navsarjan Chetana Puraskar) is an annual award conferred by the Department of Art and Culture of the Government of Goa. The main objective of this award is recognizing and observing the achievements of young individuals hailing from Goa who have demonstrated exemplary prowess in the domain of art and culture.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">John Claro</span> Indian writer and director (born 1930)

John Claro Fernandes, known professionally as John Claro, is an Indian writer, theatre director, playwright, and actor. Throughout his extensive career, he has made crucial contributions to the development and advancement of Goan tiatr. His noted research on the history of tiatr led to the discovery that the inaugural tiatr production, titled Italian Bhurgo, took place on 17 April 1892, at the New Alfred Theatre in Bombay, presently occupied by the Police Commissioner headquarters.
