Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha (born 4 October 1958) [9] is a retired Indian diplomat who belongs to the Indian Foreign Service. He is the former [5] High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom. He was sworn in as Central Information Commissioner on 1 January 2019 served their till 3 October 2023. [11]
Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha hails from Bihar. Born in a Kayastha family of Patna,he was schooled at Chesham and at the St. Michael's High School,Patna. He holds a B.A. (Honours) degree in History from St. Stephen's College,Delhi and a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Delhi. He also has an advanced diploma in Arabic from the American University in Cairo. [6] He is married to Girija Sinha and they have two sons. [6] He is the son of Lieutenant General Srinivas Kumar Sinha,PVSM,who was former Vice Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army,former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Assam,and former Ambassador of India to Nepal. Sinha is an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 1981 batch. [9] After retiring from foreign service,he was first appointed as Central Information Commissioner on 1 January 2019 and was subsequently sworn in as the Chief Information Commissioner of India on 7 November 2020 and served the office till October 3,2023. Lieutenant General Srinivas Kumar Sinha,PVSM,ADC was an Indian Army General who served as the Vice Chief of Army Staff. After his retirement,he served as Governor of the states of Jammu and Kashmir,and Assam.

The Ranvir Sena is a militia functioning as a landlord group,mainly based in the state of Bihar,India. The group was formed by Bhumihar Brahmin landlords under the leadership of Brahmeshwar Mukhiya in 1994,with the aim to counter the influence of various left-wing militants,Naxalite groups and the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI-ML) in central Bihar. The Ranvir Sena has been connected to a number of massacres including the massacre at Laxmanpur Bathe. It has,on several occasions,been accused of human rights abuses. The Bihar state government banned the Ranvir Sena in July 1995,but the group continue to remain active. The group has frequently publicly claimed responsibility for its crimes with impunity.
Lalit Narayan Mishra was an Indian politician who served as Minister of Railways in the government of India from 1973 to 1975. He was brought into politics by the first Chief Minister of Bihar,Sri Krishna Sinha,when he was made parliamentary secretary at his insistence to the First Prime Minister of India,Jawaharlal Nehru. In 1975,he died in a bomb blast at Samastipur railway station. The court case against the perpetrators was delayed for years and was finally completed in December 2014.
Nikhil Kumar is a former IPS officer-turned politician hailing from Bihar who was Governor of Nagaland from 2009 to 2013 and Governor of Kerala from 2013 to 2014. Anugrah Narayan Sinha,known as Bihar Vibhuti,was an Indian nationalist statesman,participant in Champaran Satyagraha,Gandhian &one of the architects of modern Bihar,who was the first Deputy Chief Minister and the Finance Minister of the Indian state of Bihar (1946–1957). He was also a Member of the Constituent Assembly of India,which was elected to write the Constitution of India and served in its first Parliament as an independent nation. He also held a range of portfolios including Labour,Local Self Government,Public Works,Supply &Price Control,Health and Agriculture. A.N. Sinha,affectionately called Anugrah Babu,was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom movement and worked with Bihar Kesari Sri Krishna Sinha to lead the Gandhian movement in Bihar. One of the leading nationalists in the Indian independence movement from Bihar after Dr Rajendra Prasad,he was elected as the Congress Party deputy leader in the state assembly to assume office as the first Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister of independent Bihar,and re-elected when the Congress Party won Bihar's first general election with a massive mandate in 1952.
Anand Kumar is an Indian mathematics educator,best known for his Super 30 program,which he started in Patna,Bihar in 2002. He is known for coaching underprivileged students for JEE–Main and JEE–Advanced,the entrance examinations for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Kumar was named in Time magazine's list of Best of Asia 2010. In 2023,he was awarded the Padma Shri,the country's fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India for his contributions in the fields of literature and education. Anand Kumar was designated as the honorary ambassador of department of Korean Tourism of Government of South Korea.
Super 30 is an Indian educational programme started in Patna,India under the banner of Ramanujan School of Mathematics. It was founded by Anand Kumar,a mathematics teacher. The programme selects 30 talented candidates each year from economically underprivileged sections of Indian society and trains them for the JEE. The programme is portrayed in the 2019 film,Super 30,starring Hrithik Roshan as Anand Kumar,and his school,have been the subject of several smear campaigns,some of which have been carried in Indian media sources.
