The South Korea national handball team is the national handball team of South Korea and is controlled by the Korea Handball Federation.
The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) is the governing body of handball and beach handball in Asia. It has 44 member countries, mostly located on the Asian continent, but excludes the transcontinental countries with territory in both Europe and Asia – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russian Federation and Turkey – which are instead members of European Handball Federation (EHF). Three other states located along the western fringe of Asia – Cyprus, Armenia and Israel – are also EHF members. Hong Kong China and Macau, although not independent countries, are also members of the AHF.

Beáta Siti is a former Hungarian team handball player, and later coach. During her active career she was European champion and silver medalist from both World Championships and the Olympic Games. Her biggest success with the national team was in 2000, when she obtained the gold medal at the European Championship.

They have earned two World Championship medals so far: In 1995, they also won the World Championship title in Austria/Hungary 1995 World Women's Handball Championship, they came off third to secure the bronze medal at the Croatia in 2003 World Women's Handball Championship. It is a twelve time Asian Champion, the tournament has been won by any other nation only twice.

The 2011 World Women's Handball Championship was the 20th edition of the international championship tournament in women's Team sport handball that is governed by the International Handball Federation (IHF). Brazil hosted the event from 2-18 December 2011.
The 2013 World Women's Handball Championship, the 21st event hosted by the International Handball Federation, was held in Serbia on 6–22 December 2013.
