Joshua "Yoshi" DeHerrera (born February 1, 1972) is an American television personality and modding enthusiast who resides in Los Angeles, California. DeHerrera is known as the "Mad Modder", due to his works with computers and technology on the technology-related variety television program The Screen Savers on TechTV.
DeHerrera first got into computers in the early 80's with his family's Commodore 64. Deherrera attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. [1]
DeHerrera began working at ZDTV (later TechTV) in 1998 as a Technical Specialist. He later became an on-screen talent and a Segment Producer on TechTV's show The Screen Savers . He became well known for his computer and electronics mods. One of DeHerrera's most memorable creations was Yoshi's Boxx, a combination of a gaming PC, Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and many other older video game systems into one box. [2] DeHerrera returned a year after the first Yoshi's Boxx to create Y-Boxx 2k3. [3]
On March 25, 2004, Comcast's G4 gaming channel announced a merger with TechTV. This move became hugely controversial among loyal fans of TechTV. Around May 6, G4 announced the termination of 250 employees from the San Francisco office by July 10, 2004, allowing approximately 80 to 100 employees to transition to G4's main office in Los Angeles, California if they agreed to relocate there. [4] DeHerrera chose to stay with G4 and moved to Los Angeles.
On November 11, 2004, DeHerrera, along with many other employees at G4techTV, was terminated. G4 had decided to revamp The Screen Savers by making it more pop culture, Internet, and gaming-oriented. [5]
Deherrera was one of the founders of From the Shadows in 2005, an online videozine he created with Tom Rowles and John Hering. [6]
DeHerrera worked as a Computer-Aided Digital Designs Engineer, and later as a VFS Supervisor and 3D Scanning Supervisor, at Gentle Giant Studios from May 2005 to June 2019. With Gentle Giant Studios, DeHerrera has worked on many major motion pictures, including X-Men: The Last Stand , Spider-Man 3 , Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End , Transformers , I Am Legend , Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Dark Knight . In October of 2019 DeHerrera began working as a Photogrammertry and Scanning Supervisor at Halon Entertainment in Santa Monica, Ca. [8]
DeHerrera is also a published author with TechTV's Mod Mania with Yoshi: A Guide to Customizing Your Computer and Other Digital Devices. [9]
On March 5, 2005, DeHerrera announced on the technology podcast This Week in Tech , that he was soon to be married to Keri DeHerrera and was expecting his first child. [10] In episode six, he announced that the child would be a boy. [11]
The Screen Savers is an American TV show that aired on TechTV from 1998 to 2005. The show launched concurrently with the channel ZDTV on May 11, 1998. The Screen Savers originally centered on computers, new technologies, and their adaptations in the world. However, after it was taken over by G4, the show became more general-interest oriented and focused somewhat less on technology. The final episode of The Screen Savers aired on March 18, 2005. Repeat episodes continued to air until March 25, 2005 when its replacement program, Attack of the Show! began 3 days later on March 28, 2005. Two spiritual successors to The Screen Savers, This Week in Tech on the TWiT Network with Leo Laporte and Tekzilla on Revision3 with Patrick Norton, were started after the original show concluded. On April 19, 2015, Leo Laporte announced The New Screen Savers, which began airing on TWiT network May 2, 2015.
TechTV was a 24-hour cable and satellite channel based in San Francisco featuring news and shows about computers, technology, and the Internet. In 2004, it merged with the G4 gaming channel which ultimately dissolved TechTV programming. At the height of its six-year run, TechTV was broadcast in 70 countries, reached 43 million households, and claimed 1.9 million unique visitors monthly to its website. A focus on personality-driven product reviews and technical support made it a cultural hub for technology information worldwide, still existing today online through its former hosts' webcasts, most notably the TWiT Network.

Call for Help, also known as CFH, is a computer-themed television program that first aired exclusively on TechTV, a cable and satellite television network focused on technology, and then aired on G4techTV Canada and the HOW TO Channel in Australia. The final taped episode aired on February 26, 2007, but because the episodes were taped out of order, a number of other episodes taped during the same shooting week aired through April 6, 2007. A spin-off called The Lab with Leo Laporte aired much of the same content as Call for Help and ran on the same networks. The Lab was canceled about one year later due to low viewer ratings and the final episode aired in August 2008.
G4techTV was a cable and satellite channel resulting from a merger between Comcast-owned G4 and TechTV. The headquarters was in Los Angeles. The name changed back to G4 on February 15, 2005, in the United States.

TWiT is produced in the TWiT "eastside" studios in Petaluma, California, United States, as of 27 August 2016, a few miles away from the former "brickhouse" studios where it was produced for 5 years, and earlier TWiT "cottage", where it was produced for over 6 years. The program was produced by Greedy Productions in Vancouver, BC. Production was overseen by the show's producer(s), Matt Harris (ep.1-180) and Marc Lefebvre. The show also aired on Citytv after Rogers Media acquired control of the stations, and episode segments were also posted to Google Video several weeks after initial airing.

The show currently has over 160 terrestrial affiliates in cities including Los Angeles, California, San Francisco, California, Houston, Texas, and Washington, DC. Laporte streams video of his side of the show on TWiT Live, including caller audio. Anyone can watch the show live on weekends at 11:00 A.M. PST at live.twit.tv The show reaches 500,000 people through its affiliates, placing it second behind The Kim Komando Show in the tech radio field.
Patrick Norton is most commonly known as the former co-host and producer of TekThing, former co-host and managing editor of Revision3 properties Tekzilla, HD Nation, and Systm, and as the former co-host and managing editor of The Screen Savers, an interactive television program on the former TechTV network geared toward the technology enthusiast.
Tech News Today (TNT) was a podcast with discussions of new stories in conversation with journalists. The netcast is part of the TWiT Network. The show premiered on June 1, 2010. It was originally hosted by Tom Merritt for the first 912 episodes of the show. Becky Worley co-hosted the show from 2010 to 2012. At the end of 2015, Jason Howell and Megan Morrone took over the co-hosting duties for the show.
