Yoshiya Kakimoto is a Japanese politician. An independent,he served as the governor of Nara Prefecture from 1991 to 2007.
Prior to his career in electoral politics,Kakimoto was employed as director of the administrative affairs bureau in the Ministry of Home Affairs. [1] In April 1990,he became the Vice Governor of Nara Prefecture,and would ascend to the governorship in 1991,when Shigeki Ueda resigned from the office.
In 2009,he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun. [2]
Nara Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan located in the Kansai region of Honshu. As of 2020,Nara Prefecture has a population of 1,321,805 and has a geographic area of 3,691 square kilometres (1,425 sq mi). Nara Prefecture borders Kyoto Prefecture to the north,Osaka Prefecture to the northwest,Wakayama Prefecture to the southwest,and Mie Prefecture to the east.

The Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties,also known by its former name,the Nara Research Institute for Cultural Properties,is one of two research institutes that comprise the National Institutes for Cultural Heritage,an independent administrative institution created in 2001. Established in April 1952 as part of the National Commission for Protection of Cultural Properties,A the institute is located in the city of Nara,in Nara Prefecture,Japan,with branches elsewhere in Nara Prefecture. The institute is divided into departments for the excavation and restoration of the Asuka Palace,the Fujiwara Palace,and the HeijōPalace,historical remains,gardens,and other archaeological sites,and for the study of documents from Japan's early history. The Asuka Historical Museum is also managed by the institute.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara encompasses eight places in the old capital Nara in Nara Prefecture,Japan. Five are Buddhist temples,one is a Shinto shrine,one is a Palace and one a primeval forest. The properties include 26 buildings designated by the Japanese Government as National Treasures as well as 53 designated as Important Cultural Properties. All compounds have been recognized as Historic Sites. The Nara Palace Site was designated as Special Historic Site and the Kasugayama Primeval Forest as Special Natural Monument. Tōdai-ji,Kōfuku-ji and the Kasugayama Primeval Forest overlap with Nara Park,a park designated as one of the "Places of Scenic Beauty" by the Ministry of Education,Culture,Sports,Science and Technology (MEXT). UNESCO listed the site as World Heritage in 1998.

A Cultural Landscape is a landscape in Japan,which has evolved together with the way of life and geocultural features of a region,and which is indispensable for understanding the lifestyle of the Japanese people,and is recognized by the government of under article 2,paragraph 1,item 5 of the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties (1950). Cultural Landscapes of especially high value may be further designated as Important Cultural Landscapes;as of May 31,2017 there are fifty-one such landscapes.
