Yunus Sentamu (born 13 August 1994) is a Ugandan professional footballer who plays as a forward.

Early life for Yunus Sentamu as an amateur, In 2008 , Yunus Sentamu was studying at Cornerstone High School Kasangati in senior one and he was so active in football as a goal keeper , he was a very good goal keeper at the beginning, later on the following year in 2009 he was invited by the late Coach Ssebulime Peter who was the head coach to join the neighboring School called The Nile college Kasangati. Coach Peter really did a great job of discovering a great talent of scoring goals in this boy, Ever since he joined The Nile College Kasangati his Talent developed at a high speed by being the main man to score goals all over Wakiso by that time, later on in 2010 Yunus Sentamu helped the Nile College Kasangati to be crowned as the Champions of 2010 in Gayaza zonal competition and being the Top scorer in the same competition, In 2011 Coach Peter got a good deal to transfer all the team players from The Nile College Kasangati to St Julian High School in the same zone and later that year he managed to help St Julian High School to win the trophy and being a top scorer in the same campaign, in the same year he even managed to help the team to qualify for the Nationals competition that year but the school didn’t managed to win.He managed to perform well with a great talent of scoring goals as St Julian High School up to 2014 when St Mary’s Kitende showed an interest in this young man and managed to buy him to join the new school. After joining St Mary’s Kitende they were also impressed by the great talent of Yunus Sentamu and late promoted him from school team to Vipers SC that’s were his professional career started from. St Mary’s Kitende is almost an academy to Vipers Sc .

Club career

Ilves

In July 2016, Sentamu was cleared to play for FC Ilves in the Veikkausliiga following the resolution of visa problems, having originally signed an agreement in January 2016. [1]

Tirana

On 19 June 2017, Sentamu completed a transfer to Tirana in the Albanian First Division. [2] He made his debut in the first leg 2017–18 UEFA Europa League first qualifying round against Maccabi Tel Aviv as Tirana lost 2–0. [3] He also played in the returning leg at Selman Stërmasi Stadium, receiving a red-card for a foul as Tirana lost 3–0, and was eliminated 5–0 on aggregate. [4]

Sentamu captained Tirana for the first time on 25 November in the 1–1 draw against Shënkolli in the championship matchday 9. [5] However, club's decision to make him captain for the match was heavily contested by fans. [5] Manager Zé Maria defended his choice and also praised Sentamu, calling him "an example for everyone". [6] He scored his first hat-trick of the season on 17 December in the 6–0 thrashing of Pogradeci valid for the matchday 11. [7] In the last match of 2017, Sentamu won a penalty which was scored by Karabeci and himself netted the third in a 0–4 win at Naftëtari Kuçovë to become the first Tirana player to reach double-figures in the 2017–18 season. [8]

Sentamu concluded his first season in Albania by scoring 12 goals in 19 league appearances as Tirana was crowned Albanian First Division champion after defeating Kastrioti Krujë on 16 May 2018. [9]

Sentamu re-joined Vipers SC [10] on 28 January 2021 and signed with the Kitende based Club for a period of two years. He was unveiled by Vipers SC coach Fred Kajoba at the St. Mary's Kitende for the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League.

The 2017–18 Kategoria e Parë was the 70th official season of the Albanian football second division since its establishment. The season began on 16 September 2017 and ended on 16 May 2018. There were 20 teams competing this season, split in 2 groups, each with 10 teams. The top 5 teams from each group qualified to the promotion round, while the last teams qualified to the relegation round. The 2 winners of the qualification round gained promotion to the 2018–19 Kategoria Superiore, and played the division's final against each other.
