Yuval Adler (born Herzliya, Israel) is an Israeli filmmaker. [1] [2] Adler is perhaps best known for directing Bethlehem (2013), a film for which he won the Ophir Award for best director and best screenplay. [3] [4] Several scenes in Bethlehem were filmed in the West Bank. [5] [6] It was described in Haaretz as 'one of the most powerful Israeli films ever made.' [5]

Adler studied mathematics and physics at Tel Aviv University and received a PhD in philosophy from Columbia University in New York City. [1]

Ayala Procaccia is a retired Israeli Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel. Before being elected to the Supreme Court in 2001, she served as a judge in the Jerusalem Magistrates’ Court until 1993 and in the Jerusalem District Court from 1993 to 2001. While active in the Israeli law courts, Ayala Procaccia worked to change Israeli law to champion equality for all, regardless of gender or religion. Proponents of Procaccia say that she strives for an equitable and just society; critics of her work said that she promoted a judicial dictatorship over the government.

The 2010 Palestinian militancy campaign was a coordinated effort by 13 Palestinian militant groups, led by Islamist group Hamas, to derail peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The campaign consisted of attacks against Israelis in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Israel in which, according to a Hamas declaration in early September, "all options are open". The participating groups also included Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Resistance Committees and an unnamed splinter group of Fatah. Some Israeli and Palestinian officials and analysts familiar with Hamas believe that the true target of the campaign is the Palestinian Authority, which is led by Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah.

<i>Bethlehem</i> (film) 2013 film

Bethlehem is a 2013 Israeli drama film directed by Yuval Adler. It was screened at the Venice Days section of the 2013 Venice Film Festival where it won the top prize. It was shown at the Telluride Film Festival and 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was selected as the Israeli entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards after winning six Ophir Awards including Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Film, but it was not nominated.

The Valley of Peace initiative is an effort to promote economic cooperation between Israel, Jordan, and Palestine based around efforts and joint projects in the Arava/Arabah Valley, along which runs the southern portion of the Israel - Jordan border. It received the personal attention and support of Shimon Peres, President of Israel. The initiative involved ongoing joint efforts by regional leaders to launch joint new industrial and economic projects, which will create new local businesses and job growth, and promote ongoing cooperation.

HaKol HaYehudi is an Israeli digital newspaper in Hebrew. The paper is written and edited in Yitzhar, by Avraham Binyamin and Yehoshua Hess, who were both convicted of incitement. The paper contains news, as well as political, and religious commentary. It has been described as right-wing and far-right. It is also considered ultra-Orthodox. It has been associated with the settler movement. HaKol HaYehudi has multiple writers, including Meir Ettinger, and the controversial religious leader Rabbi Yosef Elitzur, who co-authored the King's Torah. The paper is affiliated with Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh. In 2011, police raided Yitzhar, and the headquarters of the news-site. In 2018, they raised 348,885 NIS through crowd-funding to start an "investigative system", successfully passing their goal of 320,000 NIS. The newspaper is affiliated with Otzma Yehudit.

The Operative is a 2019 internationally co-produced thriller film, written and directed by Israeli filmmaker Yuval Adler, based on the Hebrew novel The English Teacher by Yiftach Reicher-Atir, a former intelligence officer. It stars Diane Kruger, Martin Freeman and Cas Anvar.

Kidon is a 2013 French-Israeli spy action comedy film about the Israeli Mossad's attempts to find out who killed Hamas senior military commander Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh in 2010. In real life, Kidon is a secretive Mossad special operations killing unit.

Basel Adra is a Palestinian activist and journalist who in 2021 was falsely accused of framing the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) and who in 2022 was beaten while filming the IDF demolishing a structure that he built.
