Zahoor Ahmad Mir (born 24 February 1972) is an Indian politician, social activist and the former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He represented Pampore assembly constituency of Pulwama district thrice in 2003, 2008 and 2014 [1] until PDP-BJP alliance ended in 2018. [2]

A member of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party, he was appointed as the state minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology. He also served minister for Animal & Sheep Husbandry minister and Cooperative and Fisheries. [3] [4]

Biography

He was born on 24 February 1972 to Abdul Aziz Mir in Konibal area of Jammu and Kashmir. [1] He did his secondary education from the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education in 1994. [5]

In 2007, he was awarded the Certificate of Excellence and Rashtriya Gaurav Award in recognition of his contribution to the Economic Growth and National Integration. He was presented the awards by Bhishma Narain Singh, former governor of Assam and Tamil Nadu during a seminar Economic Growth and National Integration held in New Delhi. He also became the recipient of Adarsh Yuva Vidhayak Puraskar presented by Indian Student Parliament in recognition of his contribution to promote parliamentary system. [1]

Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an Indian politician who served twice as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from November 2002–November 2005 and March 2015–January 2016. He was also Minister of Tourism in Rajiv Gandhi's cabinet and Home Minister of India in V. P. Singh's cabinet. He started in the wing of the National Conference led by G. M. Sadiq, which later merged into the Indian National Congress. He switched to Janata Dal in 1987, eventually founding his own regional party, People's Democratic Party (PDP). The PDP continues to be a political force in Jammu and Kashmir, currently led by his daughter Mehbooba Mufti.

Mehbooba Mufti Sayed is an Indian politician and leader of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP), who served as the 9th Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 4 April 2016 to 19 June 2018. She was the first female chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. After the revocation of Article 370 of the constitution in August 2019, Mufti was detained without any charges at first and later under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act.

The party is a member of the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration electoral alliance. Ghulam Ahmad Mir is an Indian politician from Indian National Congress who had represented Dooru in the Jammu and Kashmir State Assembly. He was the President of Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, he lost to Hasan Masoodi of National Conference.

Aijaz Ahmad Mir is an Indian politician and the former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly who represented Wachi assembly constituency of the Jammu and Kashmir (state). He is affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party.

Mohammad Khalil Bandh is an Indian politician and the former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. As a MLA, he represented Pulwama assembly constituency thrice in 2002, 2008 and 2014 when he was associated with Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party and subsequently served district president of the party. In 2018, he was appointed as agriculture and production minister by Mehbooba Mufti until PDP-BJP alliance collapsed in 2018.
