Zahoor Ahmad Mir (born 24 February 1972) is an Indian politician, social activist and the former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He represented Pampore assembly constituency of Pulwama district thrice in 2003, 2008 and 2014 [1] until PDP-BJP alliance ended in 2018. [2]

A member of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party, he was appointed as the state minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology. He also served minister for Animal & Sheep Husbandry minister and Cooperative and Fisheries. [3] [4]

Biography

He was born on 24 February 1972 to Abdul Aziz Mir in Konibal area of Jammu and Kashmir. [1] He did his secondary education from the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education in 1994. [5]

In 2007, he was awarded the Certificate of Excellence and Rashtriya Gaurav Award in recognition of his contribution to the Economic Growth and National Integration. He was presented the awards by Bhishma Narain Singh, former governor of Assam and Tamil Nadu during a seminar Economic Growth and National Integration held in New Delhi. He also became the recipient of Adarsh Yuva Vidhayak Puraskar presented by Indian Student Parliament in recognition of his contribution to promote parliamentary system. [1]

The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) is a regional political party in the Indian union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed

He served twice as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, from November 2002 to November 2005 and again from March 2015 to January 2016. He was also Minister of Tourism in rajiv gandhi's cabinet. He was also Home Minister of India from December 1989 to November 1990. He founded the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party in July 1999 to "persuade the Government of India to initiate an unconditional dialogue with Kashmiris for resolution of the Kashmir problem."

Mehbooba Mufti

Mehbooba Mufti is an Indian politician of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who served as the last Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir as a State, from 4 April 2016 to 19 June 2018. After the revocation of the special status (autonomy) of the state in August 2019, Mufti was detained without any charges at first and later under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act. She was released only in October 2020, after the Supreme Court of India quizzed the government about the length of her detention.

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party Political party in India

The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a state political party in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The PDP was headed and founded by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. His daughter, Mehbooba Mufti, succeeded him as party leader and as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir following his death in January 2016.

Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Political party in India

Elections in Jammu and Kashmir

Elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of India to elect the representatives of various bodies at national, state and district levels including the 114 seat unicameral Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the Parliament of India. The first elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to take place between 28 November and 19 December in the form of by-elections to District Development Councils and municipal and panchayat level bodies.

Tariq Hameed Karra is an Indian politician and was a member of parliament to the 16th Lok Sabha from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. He had won the 2014 Indian general election being a Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party candidate by defeating Dr. Farooq Abdullah of National Conference by more than 40000 votes, and thereby handing the veteran politician his first ever electoral defeat in 4 decades. Syed Bashir Ahmad

Syed Bashir Ahmad is a Kashmiri politician. He has worked for the social upliftment of people living in rural areas and has championed the cause of weaker sections. He was the Member of Legislative Assembly from Rajpora Constituency and Chairman of Petitions Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

2014 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election, 2014 was held in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir in five phases from 25 November – 20 December 2014. Voters elected 87 members to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, which ends its six-year term on 19 January 2015. The results were declared on 23 December 2014. Nirmal Kumar Singh

Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh is an Indian politician and present Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. He is a former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. A by-election was held in the Lok Sabha constituency of Srinagar on 9 April 2017 with repolling in 38 polling on 13 April. It was triggered by the resignation of Tariq Hameed Karra after his defection from Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party to the Indian National Congress.

Rajiv Jasrotia is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Jasrotia was a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from the Hiranagar constituency in Kathua district. He headed Municipal committee of Hiranagar for four years. He was the Minister for Forest, Environment, and Ecology of Jammu and Kashmir in a PDP-BJP coalition government in for a short period of over 6 weeks until the coalition failed on 19 June 2018. He courted controversy after participating in a rally in support of the accused in the kathua rape case.

Ghulam Ahmad Mir is an Indian politician from Indian National Congress who had represented Dooru in the Jammu and Kashmir State Assembly. He is the President of Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee. In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections he lost to Hasan Masoodi of National Conference.

Aijaz Ahmad Mir is an Indian politician and the former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly who represented Wachi assembly constituency of the Jammu and Kashmir state. He is affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party.

Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali

Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali(Hindi:चौधरी जुल्फकार अली) is an Indian politician and former cabinet minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He is an Advocate by profession and was part of the 11th and 12th Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from Darhal constituency. He is commonly known as Sher e Pir Pangal in the area. He is a second generation politician whose father Chowdhary Mohmmad Hussain was renowned politician and statesman in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Zulfkar has also served as Cabinet Minister under the Chief Ministership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti 2015 to 2018. He was associated with Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party and served as district chief of the party for district Rajouri 2003 to 2013,He also seved as Member of highest decision making body of the party (PAC). He has left PDP and become the founding member of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party. Presently Vice President of the party. Ali has been Honoured with Best Legislature 2012. He is one of the most educated politician in Jammu and Kashmir state. As a Cabinet Minister, Ali headed various portfolios. He is pioneer minister of Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Zulfkar also implemented national food security act (NFSA) in the state and launched food for poor scheme (MMSFES).

Mohammad Khalil Bandh is an Indian politician and the former member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. As a MLA, he represented Pulwama assembly constituency thrice in 2002, 2008 and 2014 when he was associated with Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party and subsequently served district president of the party. In 20018, he was appointed as agriculture and production minister by Mehbooba Mufti until PDP-BJP alliance collapsed in 2018.
