Zeirath is a ghost town in eastern Jasper County, Texas, United States. The town was located along the Gulf, Beaumont and Kansas City railroad between Jasper and Kirbyville. It disappeared sometime in the 1920s. [1]
In 1901, there was a post office in Zeirath. Zeriath had a railroad loading switch in 1905. By 1912, the town was an Electoral precinct. In 1986, some people remained in the town, but there was no community center. [2]

As of 2004, the highway's southern terminus is in Port Arthur at an intersection with State Highway 87 (SH 87). Its northern terminus is in Tenaha at an intersection with US 59 /(Future I-369) and US 84.

The Sequatchie Valley Railroad was originally part of the Jasper Branch Railroad that was founded in 1860. The SQVR took over in the mid 1990s and now runs from Bridgeport, Alabama, to near Jasper, Tennessee. It is categorized as a "Local Railroad" by the AAR.

Zavala was a town in Jasper County, Texas, United States, founded in 1834. Named for empresario Lorenzo de Zavala, the town was founded on land owned by Thomas Huling and situated along the Angelina River. The approximately 40 families who lived in the town subsisted by farming or logging. The town last appeared on a list of communities in the county in 1878 and has since been abandoned. It is not to be confused with the city of Zavalla, which lies only 20 miles to the northwest, in Angelina County.

As of 2024, this is the last time a Democrat and a woman was elected Governor of Texas, as well as the most recent Texas gubernatorial election in which both major parties' nominees have since died.
