Zoop is an online food delivery service designed exclusively for train travelers in India. It collaborates with local restaurants to offer passengers a convenient means of ordering meals during their train journeys. It is currently the only one largest food delivery in trains platform in India, serves in top 100 trains across India. Zoop employs AI and automation to ensure precise delivery timing, advanced ordering, and personalized menus. [1]
Founded by Puneet Sharma in 2014, Zoop platform owned by Zoop Web Services Pvt. Ltd. Zoop is authorized by IRCTC under the e-catering service. [2] [3] Zoop faced several initial challenges, including the absence of a food aggregation policy and the need to create awareness about its service among railway station officials. To overcome these hurdles, Zoop engaged in regular interactions with IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) and conducted promotional activities at railway stations. [4] [5] They also adopted a lean team structure and variable cost business model. Zoop operates as the lead brand for Zoop Web Services Pvt. Ltd in India, with its headquarter in Delhi. [6]
Zoop works with FSSAI-approved restaurants in 150 railway stations in India. They offer ordering through WhatsApp and Google Chat. [7] [8]
The deliveries use GPS tracking, mobile payment systems, and automated order tracking. Zoop processes and send orders to partnering restaurants, and commissions riders to deliver the food to the passengers. The service is available via mobile applications and WhatsApp chat by using PNR numbers. [9] Zoop has also partnered with Jio Haptik to proving its service via WhatsApp chatbot. [10]
Zoop connects passengers with partner restaurants that offers South Indian, North Indian and global food varieties. [11] Customers can browse the menus of available restaurants, send in food orders, and make payment after proving their seat and train details to deliver to. A WhatsApp message is sent to confirm the customer's orders and indicate the estimated delivery time.
