The Japanese political process has three types of elections.
Yuko Sato is a Japanese politician and member of the Genzei Nippon party. She previously served one term in the House of Representatives of Japan's national Diet and currently serves on the Nagoya city council in Aichi Prefecture.
Tokushima 1st district is a constituency of the House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan. It is located in Tokushima Prefecture on the island of Shikoku, and consists of the city of Tokushima and the village of Sanagōchi in the Myōdō District. The district is among the least populated electoral districts in Japan and in the election of 2005 its voters had the highest electoral weight throughout Japan. The most populous district Tokyo 6 had 2.18 times the number of voters in Tokushima 1. As of 2012, 214,535 eligible voters were registered in the district.
Aichi 6th district is a constituency of the House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan. It is located in Northwestern Aichi and consists of the cities of Kasugai, Inuyama and Komaki, part of the Chūkyō Metropolitan Area around Nagoya. As of 2012, 420,807 eligible voters were registered in the district.
Iwate 1st district is a single-member constituency of the House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan. It is located in central Iwate and consists of the prefectural capital Morioka city and the two remaining towns in Shiwa district. Before 2017, it covered of the majority of the prefectural capital Morioka and Shiwa county. As of 2012, 278,860 eligible voters were registered in the district.

Kagoshima 2nd district is a single-member electoral district of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Diet of Japan. The district covers two different parts of Kagoshima Prefecture. On the main island of Kyushu, it covers most of the Satsuma Peninsula; this includes the cities of Makurazaki, Ibusuki, Minamisatsuma, and Minamikyūshū, as well as the former municipalities Taniyama City and Kiire Town, which are now a part of the capital Kagoshima City. The district also includes Ōshima Subprefecture, which covers the Amami Islands more than 300 kilometres to the south, which includes the city of Amami. In 2021 the district had 337,660 eligible voters.

The first stage of the 18th unified local elections in Japan took place on April 12, 2015. The Liberal Democratic Party under leadership of Shinzo Abe was the overall victor, winning many races including all ten gubernatorial races and 1,153 of the 2,284 assembly seats at stake. Further elections for municipal mayors and assemblies took place on April 26.
The 2015 Hyōgo prefectural election was an election for the Hyogo Prefectural Assembly held on 12 April 2015 as part of the 2015 unified local elections in Japan. The election saw the number of assembly members reduced from 89 to 87 and the number of electoral districts reduced from 41 to 40. Voting was held in 23 districts and representatives for the remaining 17 districts were elected unopposed. The election was held in the wake of the political expenses scandal that was exposed in July 2014 involving multiple assembly members and was notable for former assemblyman Ryutaro Nonomura's outburst of uncontrolled sobbing at a news conference.
The Tokushima-Kochi at-large district is a constituency of the House of Councillors in the Diet of Japan. The district was formed in 2015 from a merger of the Tokushima and Kōchi at-large districts. Liberal Democratic Party member Yusuke Nakanishi was elected as its first representative at the House of Councillors election in July 2016.
Saga at-large district is a constituency that represents Saga Prefecture in the House of Councillors in the Diet of Japan. Councillors are elected to the house by single non-transferable vote (SNTV) for six-year terms. Since the establishment of the current House of Councillors electoral system in 1947, the district has elected two Councillors, one each at elections held every three years. It has 679,289 registered voters as of September 2015.
