The 7th Filmfare Awards Bangla is a ceremony, presented by The Times Group, which honored the best Indian Bengali-language films of 2023.

Contents

Shesh Pata led the ceremony with 16 nominations, and won 5 awards including Best Director (for Atanu Ghosh) and Best Actor (for Prosenjit Chatterjee). It was followed by Dawshom Awbotaar and Ardhangini , with 15 and 11 nominations respectively. While the former won only Best Music Director (for Anupam Roy), the latter went on to win a leading 6 awards, including Best Film, Best Actress (for Churni Ganguly), Best Supporting Actress (for Jaya Ahsan) and Best Supporting Actor (for Ambarish Bhattacharya).

Mayar Jonjal won 6 awards from 8 nominations, including Best Film Critics, also shared by Niharika which additionally received 6 nominations, subsequently winning Best Female Playback Singer (for Abarna Roy).

Jaya Ahsan received dual nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, winning the latter. [1]

Ceremony

Held at ITC Royal Bengal, the 7th Filmfare Awards Bangla honoured the Bengali films released in 2023. At a press conference helmed by Jitesh Pillai, the editor of Filmfare magazine prior to the ceremony, Joy was revealed to be the title sponsor. Actors Parambrata Chatterjee, Sauraseni Maitra and Sourav Das were announced as the co-hosts, while actors Koel Mallick, Nusraat Faria, Srabanti Chatterjee, Bonny Sengupta, Koushani Mukherjee and Ankush Hazra were announced to be performing during the event. It took place on 29 March 2024, and was broadcast on 21 April 2024 on Zee Bangla. [2]

His film Angshumaner Chhobi, Mayurakshi, Binisutoy, Abby Sen and Rupkatha Noy, bagged multiple Awards.He was born on 12 August 1969 in Kolkata, West Bengal. One of his Bengali movies named Mayurakshi was awarded as the Best Feature Film in Bengali. Atanu started his career as a scriptwriter and director for documentary films in 1996. For his work in Aar Ek Bampi, he received the Doordarshan National Awards for Best Children's Telefilm.

Anandalok Puraskar or Anandalok Awards ceremony is an award ceremony for Bengali film in India. The Anandalok, only film magazine in Bengali language, published from Ananda Publishers and Ananda Bazar Patrika presents this award (Puraskar). The magazine was started on 25 January 1975 and the awards ceremony was started in 1998.

Anupam Roy is an Indian singer-songwriter, music director, composer, songwriter, guitarist, playback singer from Kolkata, India. He made his debut with Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao & Benche Thakar Gaan, which appeared on the soundtrack of the 2010 Bengali film Autograph. Since then, he has gone on to compose, write lyrics and sing for many Bengali films.

Autograph is a 2010 Indian Bengali drama film by debutant director Srijit Mukherji. The movie is a tribute to Satyajit Ray's 1966 film Nayak and yesteryear Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who portrayed the title role in the film. The ceremony was held on 17 March 2022 in Kolkata. Borunbabur Bondhu and Tonic shared the award for Best Film. The Award Show was aired on 24 and 30 April 2022 on Zee Bangla and Zee Bangla Cinema respectively. The show was hosted by Abir Chatterjee, Sohini Sarkar and Anirban Bhattacharya.

Projapoti is a 2022 Indian Bengali-language family drama film directed by Avijit Sen, produced by Atanu Raychaudhuri, co-produced by Dev and distributed by SSR Cinemas. The film features Mithun Chakraborty, Mamata Shankar and Koushani Mukherjee in lead roles. The movie was theatrically released on 23 December 2022 and had its digital premiere on the streaming platform ZEE5 on 14 April 2023. Made on a budget of 1.5 Crores, it was a master hit at the box-office. The film was declared a blockbuster at the box office.

Kaberi Antardhan is a 2023 Indian Bengali language period romantic thriller film written and directed by Kaushik Ganguly. It is produced by Nispal Singh under the banner of Surinder Films. The film stars Srabanti Chatterjee and Prosenjit Chatterjee in lead roles. The story revolves around a crime and a love story at North Bengal during the Indian Emergency Period.

Ardhangini is a 2023 Indian Bengali drama film written and directed by Kaushik Ganguly. The film is produced by Nispal Singh under the banner of Surinder Films. The film stars Churni Ganguly, Jaya Ahsan and Kaushik Sen in lead roles. It was a box office success. It was featured at the 54th IFFI Indian panorama section.

7th Edition of The WBFJA Award, also known as Cinemar Samabartan took place on 14 January 2024 honoring the best films of 2023.
