The 2008 Lux Style Awards, officially known as the 7th Lux Style Awards ceremony, presented by the Lux Style Awards honours the best films of 2008 and took place at the DHA Golf Club, Karachi on 29 October 2008. This year, the city of lights played host to the Pakistani Film Industry. [1]

The official ceremony took place on 29 Oct, 08, at the Expo Centre, in Karachi. [1] During the ceremony, Lux Style Awards were awarded in 29 competitive categories. The ceremony was televised in Pakistan and internationally on Geo TV. Actor Shaan Shahid, Fawad Khan and rockstar Ali Azmat hosted the ceremony. [1] [2]

Background

The Lux Style Awards is an award ceremony held annually in Pakistan since 2002. The awards celebrate "style" in the Pakistani entertainment industry, and honour the country's best talents in film, television, music, and fashion. Around 30 awards are given annually. [3]

Khan made her first professional screen debut in Fasih Bari Khan's telefilm Burns Road Ki Neelofar in 2008 as Saeeda, for which she received 2009 Kara Film Festival award for Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role. She then appeared in number of television films including PTV's drama serial Thora Sa Asman which further earned her wide recognition and critical appraisal and the drama Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewa in which she did 30+ characters, through which she garned appraisal and proved herself as one of the finest actors, she is most well known for her role as Momo in the Pakistani Sitcom Bulbulay.

The 2002 Lux Style Awards, officially known as the 1st Lux Style Awards ceremony, presented by the Lux Style Awards, honours the best films of 2001 and took place between 18–20 February 2002. The programme was developed and led by Naheed Chowdhry, who co-created the concept with Frieha Altaf. "I wanted to ensure that there was a sustainable legacy created that impartially assessed contributors and gave back to society through scholarships in the arts and culture arena", says Chowdhry."One that would go on to be recognised as the 'Oscars' of Pakistan."

The 2003 Lux Style Awards, officially known as the 2nd Lux Style Awards ceremony, presented by the Lux Style Awards honours the best films of 2002 and took place 22–24 February 2003. This year, the city of Pakistan played host to the Pakistani Film Industry.

The 4th Lux Style Awards ceremony was held in Expo Center in Karachi, Pakistan. The show was hosted by Junaid Khan and Aamina Sheikh and from the members of Banana News Network. The show had the performances by Humayun Saeed, Zara Sheikh, Veena Malik, Ali Zafar, Meesha Shafi and Sadia Imam. Some of the film and music categories were removed from the award.

The 10th Lux Style Awards ceremony was held in Expo Center in Karachi, Pakistan. The show was hosted by Mahira Khan, Faizan Haque and from the members of BNN. The show had the performances by HSY and Reema Khan, Aaminah Haq, Ammar Bilal, Meera, Mahira and Ahsan Khan etc. Special tribute was paid to late Moin Akhtar. Some of the film and music categories were removed from the award.

The 2012 Lux Style Awards, officially known as the 11th Lux Style Awards ceremony, presented by the Lux Style Awards honors the best films of 2011 and took place between 14 and 16 February 2012. This year, the city of Pakistan played host to the Pakistani Film Industry.

The 2013 Lux Style Awards, officially known as the 12th Lux Style Awards, honoured the best Pakistani films of 2012 and took place on 12 October 2013 at Expo Centre, Lahore.

The 14th Lux Style Awards ceremony, presented by Lux to honor the fashion, music, films and Pakistani television of 2014 was held on 30 September 2015 beginning at 8:30 p.m PST. The Pakistan Media Awards, commonly known as The PMA, are a set of awards given annually for radio, TV, film and theatre achievements. The award is a statuette representing a knight with a star on the chest. Its official named is a Pakistan Media Award of Merit.

The ARY Film Awards, commonly known as The AFA's, is an annual Pakistani awards ceremony honoring the cinematic achievements of film industry. Winners are awarded the golden statue, officially the ARY Film Award of Merit, that is much often known as an AFA trophy. The awards, first presented in 2014 at Golf Club, Karachi, are overseen and organized by ARY Digital Network and Entertainment Channel. ARY Film Awards became an electoral race to the trophy to best film in any category, as per being the first awarding ceremony of reboot era of Pakistani Film Industry. ARY Film Awards are the first film awarding ceremony after the demolishing of Pakistani oldest awarding ceremony Nigar Awards.

<i>Rang Laaga</i> Pakistani TV series or program

Rang Laaga is a 2015 Pakistani drama serial that originally aired on ARY Digital from 11 March 2015 to 4 November 2015, airing a total 34 episodes. It was directed by Anjum Shahzad and was written by Sana Fahad. The drama stars Saima Noor, Faisal Qureshi, Neelam Muneer and Saboor Ali in pivot roles. At the annual 15th Lux Style Awards, Rang Laaga received five nominations, including Best TV Play for Mustafa and Kazmi, Best TV Actor for Qureshi, Best TV Actress for Noor, Best Director for Shehzad, and Best Writer for Fahad.

The 16th Lux Style Awards ceremony, presented by Lux to honor the best in fashion, music, films, and Pakistani television of 2016, took place on 19 April 2017 at the Expo Center, Karachi, Sindh. During the ceremony, LUX presented the Lux Style Awards in four segments including Film, Fashion, Television, and Music. Actor in Law remained the most award-winning film with 4 awards while Udaari remained the most award-winning TV series by winning 3 awards.

The 19th Lux Style Awards presented by Lux to honor the best in fashion, music, films and Pakistani television of 2019, held digitally on 31 December 2020. The awards were held virtually due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world.
