The Attorney General's Office of Brunei is the public prosecutor of Brunei, and legal adviser to the Government of Brunei. The functions of the attorney general are carried out with the assistance of the deputy attorney-general and the solicitor-general, through the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC). Moreover, assisting the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and other enforcement agencies in carrying out their investigations, advising and approving prosecutions. [1]
The office of Attorney General of Brunei was established by Brunei's Constitution in 1959. Prior to the proclamation, the Attorney General of Sarawak had served as the legal adviser to Brunei's federal government. [2] The Attorney General is assisted by the Solicitor General and Counsels in advising representing the federal government in civil and criminal matters. In addition, the Attorney General drafts legislation and works closely with any pertinent government ministries and departments. [3] In August 2008, the position of attorney general was promoted to ministerial rank. [1]

In most common law jurisdictions, the attorney general or attorney-general is the main legal advisor to the government. In some jurisdictions, attorneys general also have executive responsibility for law enforcement, prosecutions or even responsibility for legal affairs generally. In practice, the extent to which the attorney general personally provides legal advice to the government varies between jurisdictions, and even between individual office-holders within the same jurisdiction, often depending on the level and nature of the office-holder's prior legal experience.
Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Hassanal Bolkiah is the eldest son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his wife Queen Saleha. He is the Crown Prince of Brunei Darussalam and is first in the line of succession to the Bruneian throne.
The attorney-general of Singapore is the public prosecutor of the Republic of Singapore and legal adviser to the Government of Singapore. The attorney-general is the head of the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), whose staff carries out the functions of the attorney-general. Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Hayati binti Haji Mohd Salleh is a Bruneian lawyer and the first female Attorney General of Brunei, who served the office from 2009 to 2018. She is also the first female judge in Brunei, as well as the first female High Court Judge in the Supreme Court of Brunei. She is also the first Bruneian Malay woman to be called to the English Bar.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is a cabinet-level ministry in the government of Brunei which is responsible for the country's administrative divisions, municipal areas, immigration, labour, fire and rescue services, prison and rehabilitation institutions, and national disaster management. The Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam, officially abbreviated as MinDef, is a cabinet-level ministry of the Government of Brunei. It is responsible for the country's national security and military forces, the latter collectively known as the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF); Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei, (ABDB). It is Brunei's ministry of defence; and was established on 1 January 1984, when Brunei Darussalam achieved independence from the United Kingdom. The Ministry of Defence leadership presently consists of a minister ; its incumbent is the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, who is also the Supreme Commander of the RBAF / ABDB. A deputy minister is second-in-command at the MinDef.

The Privy Council is a formal body of advisers to the monarch of Brunei. When His Majesty appoints people to posts with traditional ranks, titles, and honors, the council provides advice. The council was established in 1959 in accordance with Brunei's constitution and are in charge of advising His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the three branches of government which are the executive, judicial, and legislative, even though they have separate powers. This is in keeping with the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy of the country.
Dato Seri Paduka Haji Ahmad bin Haji Isa is a Bruneian lawyer who is the incumbent eighth Attorney General of Brunei from 2020 to 2024. He practices in the fields of criminal prosecution and defense work, aviation, international law, business and commercial law, banking, real estate, joint ventures, and intellectual property. He is also the chairman of the International School Brunei (ISB) Board of Directors, the director of AEGIS Secure Solutions, and member of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) council. In November 2022, he was appointed Vice President of the Brunei Darussalam Swimming Association (BDSA).
Idris Talog Davies CBE was a nobleman and judge who served in several high-ranking positions which included being appointed as a member of the Brunei Privy Council and the Brunei Attorney General. Notably, he was among the Avidosry Editorial Board for the Malayan Law Journal, and a lifetime member of the Malaysian Historical Society.
