The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA or MoRA; Malay : Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama, KHEU) is a cabinet-level ministry in the government of Brunei which is responsible for the propagation of Islam and its upholding as the state religion, [4] as well as oversees the Islamic religious education in the country. It is currently led by a minister and a deputy minister, whereby the incumbents are Badaruddin Othman [lower-alpha 2] and Pengiran Mohd Tashim Pengiran Hassan [lower-alpha 1] respectively. The department was established on 29 September 1959, initially as the Department of Religious Affairs (Jabatan Hal Ehwal Ugama). [5] On 21 October 1970, the construction of their new B$375,000 headquarters were completed in Tutong, near Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque. [6]
In the fiscal year 2021–2022, the ministry had been allocated a budget of B$263 million, [lower-alpha 3] a two percent increase from the previous year. [1]

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, formerly known as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), is the cabinet-level ministry in the government of Brunei which is responsible for handling Brunei's external relations, the management of its international diplomatic missions and the nation's foreign trade policy. It was established immediately upon Brunei's independence on 1 January 1984. It is currently led by a minister and a second minister, in which the incumbents are Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, and Erywan Yusof respectively. Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, is a mosque in Kampong Kiarong of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is named after Hassanal Bolkiah, the 29th and current Sultan of Brunei. It is one of the two state mosques, the other Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.

The Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam, officially abbreviated as MinDef, is a cabinet-level ministry of the Government of Brunei. It is responsible for the country's national security and military forces, the latter collectively known as the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF); Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei, (ABDB). Mohammad Zain bin Serudin, pen name Shukri Zain, is a Bruneian nobleman, politician and writer who formerly held the position of Minister of Religious Affairs from 1986 to 2010. He has traveled abroad and made significant literary contributions to Malay-Islamic literature, including Islamic poetry and usage of his own Malay language to convey his poetic ideas. He also was the leader or president of the Brunei Youth Council (BYL), and a member of the Privy Council.
Badaruddin bin Othman, pen name Badaruddin H.O., is a nobleman, politician and diplomat from Brunei who currently serves as the Minister of Religious Affairs (MoRA) since 2015. He also formerly held the position of Minister of Home Affairs (MoHA) from 2010 to 2015. Within the limited group of political leaders, Pehin Abdul Aziz bin Umar and Pehin Badaruddin were regarded as the two primary proponents of the MIB philosophy and the heads of the more orthodox Islamic faction.
