Bangladesh Archery Federation is the national federation for archery and is responsible for governing the sport in Bangladesh. [1] Lieutenant General Mohammad Mainul Islam is the President of the Bangladesh Archery Federation. [2] Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed is the General Secretary of the foundation. [3]
Bangladesh Archery Federation was established in 2001. It became an affiliate of the World Archery Federation in 2003. [4] In November 2019, the foundation received sponsorship from City Group. [5]
The Bangladesh Armed Forces are the combined military forces of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It consists of the three uniformed military services: the Bangladesh Army, the Bangladesh Navy and the Bangladesh Air Force. The Armed Forces are under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Defence of the Government of Bangladesh, and is directly administered by the Armed Forces Division of the Prime Minister's Office. The President of Bangladesh serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. It has the third-largest defence budget in South Asia and according to the Global Firepower index it is the third most powerful military force in South Asia. Border Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Coast Guard are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs during peacetime, but during wartime they fall under the command of Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy respectively.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is one of the major political parties in Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman, after the presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology. Following Rahman's assassination in 1981, his widow, Khaleda Zia, took over leadership of the party and presided as chairperson until her imprisonment, in 2018. Since then, Tarique Rahman, the son of Rahman and Zia, has served as acting chairperson and has run the affairs of the party from London.
Comilla District, officially known as Cumilla District, is a district of Bangladesh located about 100 kilometres south east of Dhaka. The Bangladesh Awami Jubo League commonly known as the Jubo League, is the first youth organization of Bangladesh founded by Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani. It is the youth wing of Bangladesh Awami League. Jubo league's current chairman is Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary is Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil.
Titas is an upazila of Comilla District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. It has a rich heritage of culture and tradition. This upazilla was formerly under Daudkandi upazilla. In 2005, it has been made a entirely new upazilla.
Enforced disappearances in Bangladesh are cases in which the Government of Bangladesh directly or indirectly kidnaps people and holds them incommunicado. According to a Dhaka-based human rights group Odhikar, at least 402 people have become victim of enforced disappearance from 2009 to 2017 under the current Awami League administration. These incidents along with extrajudicial killings in Bangladesh has been criticized by The United Nations and human rights groups including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), a special paramilitary unit in Bangladesh, is alleged to be behind most of these disappearances even though RAB claimed these allegations to be false. The current Awami League government denies involvement in these forced disappearances even when victims later surface in custody.
Mohammad Mainul Islam is a retired lieutenant general of the Bangladesh Army. He is the former Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division and Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army. He also served as Director General Bangladesh Rifles. He is currently the president of the Bangladesh Archery Federation.
Atiqul Islam is a Bangladeshi politician, businessman and the current mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation. He was elected in the position in the by-election held on 28 February 2019 and took oath on 7 March. Earlier, he served as the president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) during 2013–14.
