Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) is one of the sixteen newly established Central Universities by the Government of India under the Central Universities Act, 2009 (Section 25 of 2009). [2] The university is located at Panchanpur, Gaya, Bihar, India. [3] On 27 February 2014, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar laid the foundation stone for the permanent campus in Gaya. [4] When completed, it will be spread in a 300-acre campus at Panchanpur. Currently further construction is ongoing. Dr. C. P. Thakur is now the newly appointed Chancellor by President of India and Kameshwar Nath Singh is the vice chancellor. CUSB is NAAC Accredited 'A++' grade university. [5]

Organisation and administration

Governance

The president of India is the visitor of the university. [6] The chancellor is the ceremonial head of the university, while the executive powers rest with the vice-chancellor. The court, the executive council, the academic council, the board of studies and the finance committee are the administrative authorities of the university.

The University Court is the supreme authority of the university and has the power to review, the broad policies and programmes of the university and to suggest measures for the improvement and development of the university; the executive council is the highest executive body of the university. The academic council is the highest academic body of the university and is responsible for the co-ordination and exercising general supervision over the academic policies of the university. It has the right to advise the executive council on all academic matters. The finance committee is responsible for recommending financial policies, goals, and budgets. [7]

The current chancellor is Dr. C. P. Thakur, former member of the Rajya Sabha. and Dr. Kameshwar Nath Singh is the current vice-chancellor. [8]

Convocation ceremony organized in Central University of South Bihar after seven years. President Draupadi Murmu will attend this program as the chief guest. [9]

Academics

The university offers postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in various fields. Admission used to be through 'Central Universities Common Entrance Test' (CUCET), and in addition, in some cases, interview or group discussions. [10] Now the university takes admissions through an all India common entrance test re-christened as Common University Entrance Test (CUET), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), across cities in India at viable examination centres.

B.D. College, Patna, also known as Bhuwaneshwari Dayal College, established in 1970, is a general degree college in Patna, Bihar. It is a constituent unit of Patliputra University. College offers undergraduate courses in Science, Commerce and Arts. B.D. College, Patna is located at 25.60.E longitude and 85.13’ N latitude. This institution had a modest start on 10 March 1970, and it remained under Magadh University, Bodh Gaya in (1970-2018) presently it is under Patliputra University, Patna since 18 March 2018. Immediately Area of the campus is about 26 katha this college is situated in the Heart of Patna the Capital of Bihar. It is managed as per provisions of the University Acts and Statutes prescribed by the UGC and promulgated by the State Government of Bihar with Governor cum Chancellor of the Universities of Bihar as its highest authority. Principal is the highest administrative authority in the college. The college receives grants from the state government as well as the University Grants Commission for the payment of salary and infrastructural development. The college follows the policy of collective decision making. In order to maintain academic, administrative and financial disciplines and tone up the internal set up of various internal committees are functioning. For fostering civic and social values among the students interactive sessions, outreaching activities and field study in surrounding areas are organised by the departments. Issues concerning health, environment & culture, social and political awareness have also been inculcated. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell has been created with sixteen senior faculty members, government representatives, Bursar, C.C.D.C., senior alumnus and Principal as the Chairman of the cell along with teacher nominated by NAAC Steering Committee. The cell monitors the quality of teaching, research activities, co and extracurricular programme undertaken by different departments and Societies/ Committees of the college. The teachers at the college frequently attend Orientation and Refresher Courses to update their knowledge and skill. Some of the teachers participate in Orientation and Refresher Courses as resource persons, academic council senate in different universities some our teachers are engaged in Union Public Services commission and Bihar public Services Commission.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sonajharia Minz</span>

Sonajharia Minz is an academician, trained in mathematics and computer science, actively engages with issues of the marginalized, women, and adivasi Dalits. The former vice-chancellor of Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU) is the second tribeswoman, but first from the state of Jharkhand to be appointed as vice chancellor of SKMU, Dumka, Jharkhand. After successful completion of her term of three years as vice chancellor, she returned to her parent institute, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India.

Kameshwar Nath Singh is an Indian academic and professor. He is currently serving as vice chancellor of the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), Gaya. He also served as vice chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University. During his academic career he contributed to environmental studies, regional development, and value education. He has served as the Head of the Department of Geography and was the founding Director of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Research Foundation. Prof. Singh has supervised twenty Ph.D. students and a post-doctoral fellow, and has published over seventy research papers, policy papers, and seventeen books.
