Hayward station is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station in Hayward, California, serving Downtown Hayward and the surrounding areas. It is served by the Orange and Green lines. The elevated station has two side platforms. A two-lane bus terminal is located on the northeast side of the station. A pedestrian tunnel under the Union Pacific Railroad Oakland Subdivision connects the fare lobby to a parking lot and a five-level parking garage.
The BART Board approved the name "Hayward" in December 1965. [3] A $1.21 million construction contract was awarded in June 1968. [4] The station opened on September 11, 1972. [5] Due to a national strike that year by elevator constructors, elevator construction on the early stations was delayed. Elevators at most of the initial stations, including Hayward, were completed in the months following the opening. [6] [7]
AC Transit bus service began serving Hayward station when it opened. [8] On November 21, 1977, SamTrans began operating service between Hayward station and San Mateo via the San Mateo–Hayward Bridge. [9] It was discontinued in August 1999. [10] AC Transit resumed service over the bridge in March 2003, operating its route M between Castro Valley and Hillsdale via Hayward. [11] The route was cut back from Castro Valley to Hayward in March 2010, and was suspended in 2020. [12] [13] [14]
A transit-oriented development (TOD) project, which replaced the surface parking lots, was completed in 1998. It included a parking garage, townhomes, a new city hall, and a Greyhound Lines bus station. [15] [16] : 7 Seismic retrofitting of the parking garage took place in 2009–2010. [17] As of 2024 [update] , BART anticipates soliciting developer proposals by 2028 for additional TOD at the station. [16] : 16
Hayward station is a major bus hub for AC Transit, served by Transbay route M; local routes 10, 28, 34, 41, 56, 60, 83, 86, 93, 94, 95, and 99; and All Nighter route 801.
Shuttles to California State University, East Bay also serve the station. [18] A small building near B Street is the Greyhound intercity bus stop. [19]
SamTrans Transbay buses served the station until mid-1999. [20]

AC Transit is an Oakland-based public transit agency serving the western portions of Alameda and Contra Costa counties in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. AC Transit also operates "Transbay" routes across San Francisco Bay to San Francisco and selected areas in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. AC Transit is constituted as a special district under California law. It is governed by seven elected members. It is not a part of or under the control of Alameda or Contra Costa counties or any local jurisdictions.
Montgomery Street station is a combined BART and Muni Metro rapid transit subway station in the Market Street subway in downtown San Francisco. Located under Market Street between Montgomery Street and Sansome Street, it serves the Financial District neighborhood and surrounding areas. The three-level station has a large fare mezzanine level, with separate platform levels for Muni Metro and BART below. Montgomery Street and Embarcadero station to the north are typically the two busiest stations in the BART system.
Daly City station is an elevated Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station in Daly City, California, just south of the city limits of San Francisco. It is adjacent to Interstate 280 and California Route 1, which it serves as a park-and-ride station. The station is served by the Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue lines; it is the west terminal for the Green and Blue lines.

Service through MacArthur is timed for cross-platform transfers between the southbound lines that pass through the station. Opened in 1973, the station was renovated in 2017–2021 to add additional elevators, stairs, and lobby space.
El Cerrito Plaza station is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station in El Cerrito, California, located adjacent to the El Cerrito Plaza shopping center. It primarily serves southern El Cerrito, northern Albany, and Kensington, along with nearby portions of Berkeley and Richmond. Nearly identical in form to El Cerrito del Norte station, El Cerrito Plaza station has two side platforms serving the line's two elevated tracks, with a fare lobby underneath. The Ohlone Greenway runs through the station area. The station is served by the Orange and Red lines.
The station complex of Amtrak's Oakland Coliseum station and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)'s Coliseum station is located in the East Oakland area of Oakland, California, United States. The two stations, located about 600 feet (180 m) apart, are connected to each other and to the Oakland Coliseum/Oakland Arena sports complex with an accessible pedestrian bridge. The BART station is served by the Orange, Green, and Blue lines; the Amtrak station is served by the Capitol Corridor service.
