Meranti Islands (Kepulauan Meranti) is an archipelago forming a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, and lies off the eastern coast of the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It was created on 19 December 2008 by the separating of this archipelago from the mainland regency of Bengkalis. The regency comprises the islands of Tebing Tinggi, Rangsang, Padang and Merbau, together with minor offshore islands, but does not include Bengkalis Island which is geographically part of the archipelago but remains within Bengkalis Regency. The principal town is Selat Panjang (also written as Selatpanjang) on Tebing Tinggi Island. The regency covers an area of 3,623.93 km2, and had a population of 176,290 at the 2010 Census [2] and 206,116 at the 2020 Census; [3] the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 213,532. [1]

On 26 January 2011 the regency was re-divided into nine districts. The additional four districts are Tebing Tinggi Timur (East Tebing Tingggi Island, leaving the residual area of Tebing Tinggi District to cover the town of Selat Panjang), Rangsang Pesisir (Coastal Rangsang), Pulau Merbau (Merbau Island, leaving the residual area of Merbau District to cover the southern part of Padang Island) and Tasik Putri Puyu (covering the northern part of Padang Island). The areas and the populations of the nine districts at the 2020 Census, [3] together with the official estimates as at mid 2022, [1] are as follows. The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of administrative villages in each district (totaling 96 rural desa and 5 urban kelurahan), and its post code.

The Banggai Regency is a regency located at the eastern end of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It makes up a re-established regency (kabupaten), created on 4 October 1999 by splitting the existing Banggai Regency into this smaller Banggai Regency situated on the mainland of Sulawesi and a new Banggai Islands Regency comprising the offshore islands which are separated from mainland Sulawesi by the Peleng Straits. The residual Banggai Regency covers an area of 9,672.70 km2 and had a population of 323,626 at the 2010 census and 362,275 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 366,224.
Bengkalis Regency is a regency of Indonesia in Riau Province. The regency was originally established in 1956 and then included most of the northern part of the province, but on 4 October 1999 it was divided up, with most of the territory being split off to form the new Rokan Hilir Regency, Siak Regency and the city of Dumai. On 19 December 2008 a further five districts were removed to create the new Meranti Islands Regency, leaving eight districts in the Bengkalis Regency, which quantity has increased since 2010 to eleven by the splitting of existing districts on the Sumatran mainland.
Siak, is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It has an area of 8,556.09 km² and had a population of 376,742 at the 2010 Census and 457,940 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 477,550, comprising 246,186 males and 231,364 females. The administrative centre of the regency is located at Siak Sri Indrapura. The northern part of this regency contains a large part of the Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve.
Bintan Regency is an administrative area in the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia. Bintan Regency includes all of Bintan Island and also includes many outlying islands including the Tambelan Archipelago and Badas Islands situated between Bintan and West Kalimantan.
North Bengkulu is a regency of Bengkulu Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sumatra. It originally covered much of the northern part of Bengkulu Province, but on 25 February 2003 the most northwesterly districts were split off to form a separate Mukomuko Regency, and on 24 June 2008 the most southeastern districts were likewise split off to create a new Central Bengkulu Regency. The residual regency now covers an area of 4,424.59 km2, and it had a population of 257,675 at the 2010 Census and 296,523 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 302,833. The administrative centre is at the town of Arga Makmur.
Tebing Tinggi Island is an island off the north east coast of Riau Province, Sumatra, Indonesia, located in the Strait of Malacca. It is located in the Meranti Islands Regency, and is directly east of Padang Island and directly south of Rangsang Island. The area is 1,379.31 km2.
The Karimun Regency is located in the Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. Besides the central island of Great Karimun, the regency also includes the islands of Kundur and over 240 smaller islands. The district covers a land area of 1,524 km2 and a sea area of 6,460 km2, and its population was 212,561 at the 2010 Census and 253,457 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 266,177.
Selat Panjang is the capital of Kepulauan Meranti Regency, which is part of the province of Riau in Indonesia. The regency is a new regency in Riau province which was established on 19 December 2008 after being separated from Bengkalis Regency. The city is located on Tebing Tinggi Island, which is separated by a narrow channel from Sumatra, and across the Strait of Malacca from Singapore.
Central Bengkulu Regency is a regency of Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. It is located on the west coast of the island of Sumatra, and lies immediately to the north and the east of the adjacent city of Bengkulu. It was formed on 24 June 2008 by being split away from the neighbouring North Bengkulu Regency. It covers an area of 1,223.94 km2 and had a population of 98,333 at the 2010 census and 116,706 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 119,814. the administrative centre is at the town of Karang Tinggi.
Labuhanbatu Regency, alternatively written in space as Labuhan Batu Regency, is a regency of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Its seat is Rantau Prapat. It had an area of 9,322.5 km2 in 2000. Subsequently, the reduced regency has an area of 2,561.38 km2 and had a census population in 2010 of 415,248, which rose to 493,899 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 508,024.
Padang Lawas is a regency in North Sumatra province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 3,912.18 km2, and had a population of 226,807 at the 2010 Census and 261,011 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 267,275. Its administrative seat is the town of Sibuhuan. Padang Lawas Regency was created on 17 July 2007 from southeastern parts of the South Tapanuli Regency.It is the only regency in the province that borders two provinces,West Sumatra and Riau.
South Bangka Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Indonesia, with the town of Toboali as its regency seat. It also includes several small islands off the coast of Bangka in the Gaspar Strait, such as Lepar and Pongok. The regency covers an area of 3,607.08 km2 and had a population of 172,476 at the 2010 Census and 198,189 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 202,263.
Serdang Bedagai Regency is a regency on the east coast of North Sumatra facing Malaysia, with 95 km of coastline and covering an area of 1,900.22 square kilometres, divided into seventeen districts (kecamatan), in turn subdivided into 243 villages. Its seat is Sei Rampah. The regency surrounds the independent city of Tebing Tinggi, and also contains a district (kecamatan) by the same name. The name “Serdang Bedagai” was derived from the two Sultanates which formerly existed in the Region; they were Serdang Sultanate and Padang Bedagai Sultanate. The population was 592,922 at the 2010 Census, while the 2020 Census produced a total of 657,490; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 667,998.
Empat Lawang Regency is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It was created on 2 January 2007 from what had been formerly the western districts of Lahat Regency. It covers an area of 2,256.44 km² and had a population of 221,176 at the 2010 Census and 333,622 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 357,673. The regency seat is at the town of Tebing Tinggi.
Kapuas Regency is one of the thirteen regencies which divide Central Kalimantan Province, on the island of Kalimantan, Indonesia. It formerly covered a wider area, but on 10 April 2002 two further regencies were cut out of its western districts, and the residual area is now 14,999 km.2 Its population was 329,646 at the 2010 Census and 410,446 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 423,210. The administrative centre is the town of Kuala Kapuas near the coast, but the largest town is Selat, which includes 8 of the regency's 15 urban kelurahan, and had 73,900 inhabitants in 2022.
Sinjai Regency is a regency of South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. The regency, whichis separated from the Bone Regency to its north by the River Tangka, covers an area of 819.96 km2. It had a population of 228,936 at the 2010 Census and 259,478 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 263,827. It includes the Nine Islands in the Gulf of Bone off the east coast of the southern peninsula of Sulawesi; this archipelago forms a district within the regency. The regency's principal town lies at Sinjai, a port situated on the east coast of that peninsula.
The Banggai Archipelago is a group of islands, which are located at the far eastern end of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It makes up a regency (kabupaten) of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, created on 4 October 1999 by splitting the existing Banggai Regency into a new Banggai Regency situated on the mainland of Sulawesi and a Banggai Islands Regency then comprising the entire archipelago. On 14 December 2012 a further splitting of the Regency was the removal of the more southerly seven districts to form a new Banggai Laut Regency.
Tanimbar Islands Regency is a regency of Maluku province, Indonesia, consisting primarily of the Tanimbar Islands. The Regency covers a land area of 10,102 km2, and it had a population of 105,341 at the 2010 Census and 123,572 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 124,787. The principal town and administrative centre lies at Saumlaki in Tanimbar Selatan District.
Banggai Sea Regency is a regency in the province of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The regency was established on 14 December 2012, partitioned from the Banggai Islands Regency. It comprises southern part of the Banggai Islands archipelago, including the main island of Banggai itself, the islands of Labobo and Bangkurung to the southwest of Banggai Island, and the numerous small Bokan Islands to the southeast. It covers a land area of 725.67 km2, and the districts now comprising the new Regency had a population of 62,183 at the 2010 Census and 70,435 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 71,350.
