Rokan Hilir ("Lower Rokan") is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, on Sumatra island, Indonesia. It was formed on 4 October 1999 from districts which had previously been the northwestern part of Bengkalis Regency. [2] It occupies the lower part of the catchment area of the Rokan River, and has an area of 8,851.59 km2. It had a population of 553,216 at the 2010 census [3] and 637,161 at the 2020 census; [4] the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 638,407 (comprising 337,559 males and 320,848 females). [1] The administrative centre of the Rokan Hilir Regency is located at the town of Bagansiapiapi.

Administrative districts

As at 2010, the regency was divided into thirteen districts (kecamatan), but two additional districts (Kubu Babusalam and Pekaitan) were created by splitting of the Kubu and Bangko districts respectively; and more recently three more districts (Tanjung Medan, Bagan Sinembah Raya and Balai Jaya) were added by splitting of the Pujud and Bagan Sinembah districts respectively. The eighteen districts are listed below with their areas and populations at the 2010 census [3] and the 2020 census, [4] together with the official estimates as at mid 2022. [1] The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of administrative villages in each district (a total of 159 rural desa and 25 urban kelurahan), and its post code.

On 19 December 2008 a further five districts were removed to create the new Meranti Islands Regency, leaving eight districts in the Bengkalis Regency, which quantity has increased since 2010 to eleven by the splitting of existing districts on the Sumatran mainland.

Rokan Hulu is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. Rokan Hulu Regency was created on 4 October 1999 as a result of the division of Kampar Regency, of which it was previously the western 24%. The new Regency was established under Law No. 53 of 1999 and Law No. 11 of 2003 on changes to Law Decree No. 53 of 1999, which is reinforced by the Constitutional Court Decision No. 010 / PUU-1/2004, dated 26 August 2004. It mainly occupies the upper part of the catchment area of the Rokan River, and has an area of 7,588.13 km². It had 474,843 inhabitants at the 2010 Census and 561,385 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 582,679. The administrative centre of the regency is located at Pasir Pengaraian.

Tanah Bumbu is one of the regencies in the Indonesian province of South Kalimantan. It was formerly part of Kotabaru Regency, but was split off on 25 February 2003 to form a separate regency, following dissatisfaction on the Kalimantan mainland territories with administration from Laut Island. It covers an area of 4,890.3 km2 and had a population of 267,929 at the 2010 Census and 322,646 at the 2020 Census; the latest official estimate is 335,079. Asahan Regency is a regency in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Following the creation of the new Batubara Regency, the regency now covers an area of 3,702.7 square kilometres; it had a population of 668,272 according to the 2010 census and 769,960 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 787,681. Its administrative centre is now at the town of Kisaran. The Regency surrounds but now does not include the city of Tanjungbalai which was its capital until created an independent city in 1984. The regency now covers an area of 4,372.5 square kilometres, and at the 2010 census it had a population of 817,720; at the 2020 Census this had risen to 990,246, of whom 497,314 were male and 492,932 were female; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,021,615.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Puncak Regency</span> Regency in Central Papua, Indonesia

Puncak Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province of Central Papua; it is not to be confused with Puncak Jaya Regency, which is within the same province, and from whose western districts those districts now forming Puncak Papua Regency were separated in 2008. Kubu Raya Regency or Great Kubu Regency is a regency of West Kalimantan, Indonesia. It was created on 17 July 2007 from the (larger) central and southern part of what was at that time the Pontianak Regency. It covers an area of 8,492.10 km2, and it had a population of 500,970 at the 2010 Census and 609,392 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 622,217. The principal town lies at Sungai Raya, directly adjacent to the City of Pontianak. Despite its close location to Pontianak, the regional capital and economic centre of the West Kalimantan Province, Kubu Raya highly lacks sufficient infrastructure development, which causes general suspicions on the performance of its local government.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mempawah Regency</span> Regency in West Kalimantan, Indonesia

Mempawah Regency is a regency of West Kalimantan Province of Indonesia. Originally including a wider area of West Kalimantan, this Pontianak Regency was reduced on 4 October 1999 by the north-eastern districts being removed to form a new Landak Regency, and was further reduced on 17 July 2007 by its southern districts cut out to create a new Kubu Raya Regency. Since 2007 it covers 2,797.88 km2, and had a population of 234,021 at the 2010 Census and 301,560 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 310,927. The principal town lies at Mempawah.
