The World is a Vampire: NWA vs. AAA was a professional wrestling supercard co-promoted by the American-based National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) promotion and the Mexican Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) promotion. Held as part of the NWA Pop-Up Event series, the event took place on March 4, 2023 at Foro Sol in Iztacalco, Mexico City, Mexico during The World is a Vampire music festival organized by NWA owner Billy Corgan's band The Smashing Pumpkins. The event marked the first collaborative event held by the NWA and AAA.
In the main event, Tyrus defeated Daga to retain the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. In other prominent matches, Kerry Morton defeated Sal the Pal and Jack Cartwheel in a three-way match to retain the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship, Nueva Generación Dinamita (El Cuatrero, Sansón, and Forastero) defeated Thom Latimer, Chris Masters, and Kratos to retain the AAA World Trios Championship, and La Rebelión (Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf 450) defeated Vampiro and Blue Demon Jr. to retain the NWA World Tag Team Championship.
In August 2021, the American-based National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) promotion announced a working relationship with Mexico's Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), with AAA wrestlers making appearances at NWA EmPowerrr and the NWA 73rd Anniversary Show. [2] On March 31, 2022, at AAA Invades WrestleCon, La Rebelión (Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf 450) successfully defended their NWA World Tag Team Championship against Aero Star and Drago, marking the first time a NWA title was defended during a AAA event. On November 23, 2022, the NWA officially announced The World is a Vampire: NWA vs. AAA, the first collaborative event promoted by the NWA and AAA. [4] [5] The event will be held on March 4, 2023 at Foro Sol in Iztacalco, Mexico City, Mexico as part of The World is a Vampire music festival organized by The Smashing Pumpkins, of which NWA President Billy Corgan is a member. The World is a Vampire: NWA vs. AAA featured eight professional wrestling matches, with different wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds, plots and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed either heels (referred to as rudos in Mexico, those that portray the "bad guys") or faces (técnicos in Mexico, the "good guy" characters) as they engaged in a series of tension-building events, which culminated in a wrestling match. Ian Richard Hodgkinson, better known by his ring name Vampiro, is a Canadian semi-retired professional wrestler who most recently served as director of talent for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). He also worked for Lucha Underground as a color commentator. Hodgkinson is also member of the citizen crime patrol organization Guardian Angels, acting as head of the group's chapter in Mexico City.
José Luis Jair Soria is a Mexican retired luchador or professional wrestler, who works under the ring name Shocker. He currently works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in Mexico and has previously worked for AAA in Mexico, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, in the United States and New Japan Pro-Wrestling in Japan. Soria is a second-generation professional wrestler; his father, Rubén Soria, was an active wrestler from 1963 to the 1970s.
Sangre Chicana is the ring name of retired Mexican professional wrestler Andrés Durán Reyes. Reyes made his professional wrestling debut in 1973, wearing a red mask with a gold stripe, under the name Lemus. A year later he changed his name to Sangre Chicana but kept the mask with the golden stripe. He rose to prominence in a feud with El Cobarde and Fishman that led to a Lucha de Apuesta, mask vs. mask match where Reyes lost his mask.
José Casas Ruiz is a Mexican professional wrestler and professional wrestling trainer working for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) under the ring name Negro Casas. He is the son of former wrestler turned referee Pepe Casas, and part of the large Casas wrestling family; brother of professional wrestlers El Felino and Heavy Metal and uncle of Puma, Tiger, Canelo Casas, Rocky Casas, Danny Casas and many more.
Foro Sol is a multipurpose stadium built in 1993 inside the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in eastern Mexico City. It is located near the Mexico City International Airport and is operated by Grupo CIE.
John Jesús Yurnet, better known by his ring name Mecha Wolf 450, is a Puerto Rican professional wrestler and professional wrestling trainer. He is best known for his work in World Wrestling Council (WWC), where he is a former two-time holder of the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship.
Blue Demon Jr. is a Mexican professional wrestler. He is the adopted son of the original Blue Demon and is the first Mexican and second masked wrestler to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship thus making him a one-time world champion. His real name is unknown to the public, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico, where their private lives are kept secret from fans.
Juan Manuel Zúñiga was a Mexican professional wrestler, or Luchador as they are called in Spanish, best known for working under the ring name Ángel Azteca since the late 1980s. Zúñiga is not related to wrestlers "Ángel Azteca, Jr." and "Ángel Azteca II", instead they paid Zúñiga to use the name and image. As Ángel Azteca Zúñiga worked as an enmascarado, or masked wrestler, until losing a match against Arkangel de la Muerte in 2003 where he was forced to unmask.
Leornardo Carrera Lizarraga is a Mexican luchador or professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Bestia 666. He is currently working for various promotions across Mexico, while also performing in the United States for several California-based promotions. Bestia 666's father is professional wrestler Leonardo Carrera, who performs as Damián 666 and who inspired his son's current character. He is the current leader of La Rebelión Amarilla. He is a two time NWA World Tag Team Champion.
Kira Renée Magnin-Forster is a Canadian professional wrestler, fitness competitor, and model better known by the ring name Taya Valkyrie, who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). She also performs AEW's sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH).
Los Ingobernables is a lucha libre stable based in the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion. It was formed in April 2014 by La Máscara, Rush and La Sombra, and has since become renowned as one of the top antagonistic groups in CMLL history. As members of the group, La Máscara has held the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship and the CMLL World Tag Team Championship alongside Rush, while La Sombra has held the NWA World Historic Middleweight and Welterweight Championships. Through CMLL's working relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Tetsuya Naito joined the stable in 2015, eventually forming an offshoot group named Los Ingobernables de Japón in the Japanese promotion.
The Crash Tag Team Championship is a professional wrestling tag team championship promoted by the Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico based The Crash Lucha Libre and is for two-man tag teams only. The championship was first introduced on May 8, 2015, and was the second championship created by the Crash, after The Crash Cruiserweight Championship was introduced in 2013. As it was a professional wrestling championship, the championship was not won not by actual competition, but by a scripted ending to a match determined by the bookers and match makers. On occasion the promotion declares a championship vacant, which means there is no champion at that point in time. This can either be due to a storyline, or real life issues such as a champion suffering an injury being unable to defend the championship, or leaving the company.
The NWA 70th Anniversary Show was a professional wrestling supercard that took place on October 21, 2018 at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. It was the first event produced under the NWA banner since William Patrick Corgan became the new owner of the organization. The event was co-produced with Global Force Entertainment (GFW) and was streamed live on FITE TV.
La Rebelión Amarilla is a heel professional wrestling group who work primarily for The Crash Lucha Libre and on the Mexican Independent circuit since August 2017. The group was founded when Garza Jr. broke away from the group known as La Rebelión and formed his own faction instead. Garza Jr. was the leader of the group from its creation until his departure from Mexico in March 2019.
Juicio Final (1995) was the name used for two major professional wrestling shows, scripted and produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The shows took place on December 1 and December 15, 1995 in Arena México, Mexico City, Mexico. The shows served as the year-end finale for CMLL before Arena México, CMLL's main venue, closed down for the winter for renovations and to host Circo Atayde . The shows replaced the regular Super Viernes shows held by CMLL since the mid-1930s. This was the seventh year that CMLL used the name "Jucio Final" for their year-end show, a name they would use on a regular basis going forward, originally for their year even events but later on held at other points in the year.
AAA vs MLW was a professional wrestling supercard event co-produced by the U.S-based Major League Wrestling (MLW) and the Mexico-based Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), in partnership with Promociones EMW. It was held at Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico on March 13, 2020. It was the first event in the MLW Super Series chronology. The event was taped to be aired on future episodes of MLW Fusion; they would be the last episodes to air before the promotion went on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

AAA Invades WrestleCon was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by the Mexican promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). The event was held on March 31, 2022, and took place at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas as part of the WrestleCon convention.
