The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, officially the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China, is the regional committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The committee secretary is the highest ranking post in the region, and also ex officio leads the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC). The current secretary is Ma Xingrui, a member of the CCP Politburo, who succeeded Chen Quanguo on 25 December 2021.

History

In November 1949, during the incorporation of Xinjiang into the People's Republic of China at the end of the Chinese Civil War, the CCP Central Committee approved the establishment of the CCP Central Committee Xinjiang Branch. After the Xinjiang Province was transformed to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 1955, the Party Central Committee Xinjiang Branch was abolished and replaced with the Xinjiang Uygur Regional Committee of the CCP. The Regional Committee Secretary is the highest-ranking official in Xinjiang. The Regional Committee Secretary is ex officio the first-ranking political commissar of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The Chairman of the XUAR People's Government usually serves as the Deputy Committee Secretary. [3]

Ren Hua is a former Chinese politician who spent her entire career in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. As of June 2020 she was under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-corruption agency. Previously she served as vice-chairwoman of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Her superiors, Li Zhi and Nur Bekri, both were sacked for graft in 2015 and 2019, respectively. Ren is the first senior official in Xinjiang and the fifth senior official in China to be targeted by China's top anticorruption watchdog in 2020. She is also the fifth female ministerial level official in China caught since Xi Jinping's continues an anti-graft dragnet at all levels of government, military and ruling Communist Party.

Xue Bin is a Chinese politician and the current vice chairman of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and commander of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. He entered the workforce in July 1987, and joined the Chinese Communist Party in July 1998.

Erkinjan Turaxun is a Chinese politician of Uyghur ethnicity who served as chairman of the Hubei Federation of Trade Unions, vice chairman of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and head of United Front Work Department of Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party from 2017 to 2022. The Communist League of Xinjiang was a clandestine communist organisation active in Xinjiang, China, from 1944 to 1947. Based in the regional capital of Dihua (Ürümqi), it had a Han Chinese-majority membership, in contrast to the contemporary East Turkestan Revolutionary Party, which had a Uyghur-majority membership. After consulting with the Chinese Communist Party, the two groups voted to merge and form the Democratic Revolutionary Party.

The committee secretary is the highest ranking post in the region. The current secretary is Liu Ning, who succeeded Lu Xinshe on 19 October 2021.
