Mthenjwa Amon Zondi [1] (born 24 December 1966) is a South African politician who has served in the National Assembly since 2020. Prior to serving in parliament, he served as a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 2014 to 2019. Zondi is a member of the African National Congress.

Political career

In 2014 Zondi stood for election to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature as 51st on the African National Congress's provincial legislature list. [2] He was elected and sworn in on 21 May 2014. [3]

In 2019 he stood for re-election at 50th. [4] The ANC won only 44 seats in the provincial legislature and Zondi was not elected to return to the legislature.

On 31 August 2020, Zondi was sworn in as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa, replacing Dorah Dunana Dlamini, who died in June. [5] As of 8 October 2020, he serves as a member of the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture. [6]

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) is a political party in South Africa. The party has been led by Velenkosini Hlabisa since the party's 2019 National General Conference. Ravigasen Ranganathan "Ravi" Pillay is a South African attorney and African National Congress (ANC) politician who has been the Member of the Executive Council for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government since November 2020. He was the MEC for Finance from May 2019 to November 2020 and the MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works from 2011 to 2019. Pillay was elected to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature in 2009 and served as the legislature's chief whip of the majority party from 2009 to 2011.

Lindiwe Christabola Bebee is a South African politician. She has been serving as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since May 2019. A member of the African National Congress, she is the whip of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial delegation. From May 2009 to May 2019, Bebee served as a Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature.

Nonhlanhla Mildred Khoza is a South African politician in KwaZulu-Natal serving as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the provincial Department of Social Development. She was appointed to the position in May 2019. Khoza became a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature in May 2014. She is the current provincial chairperson of the African National Congress Women's League.

Mary-Ann Lindelwa Dunjwa is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape. A member of the African National Congress, she was elected to the National Assembly in 2009. After her re-election in 2014, she became the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health, a position she held until 2019, when she was elected Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour.

Russel Nsikayezwe Cebekhulu is a South African politician who has been an Inkatha Freedom Party Member of Parliament (MP) since 2015 and previously from 2009 to 2014.

Muntukayise Bhekuyise Ntuli was a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, he served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 1999 to 2003, when he resigned amid fraud allegations. He was then elected to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature in 2009. On 11 September 2019, Ntuli became the Member of the Executive Council for Transport, Community Safety & Liaison, replacing Mxolisi Kaunda, who was elected Mayor of the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality. Ntuli died on 16 January 2021 from complications of COVID-19.

Kwazikwenkosi Innocent Mshengu is a South African lawyer and African National Congress politician who has served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, and has also been a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature since May 2019. Mshengu is the provincial chairperson of the African National Congress Youth League.

Priscilla Tozama Mantashe was a South African politician from the Eastern Cape. A member of South Africa's governing party, the African National Congress, she served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 2014 until her death in 2021. She was the sister of Gwede Mantashe, the ANC's national chairperson and the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy.

KwaZulu-Natal (National Assembly of South Africa constituency)

KwaZulu-Natal is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa, the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa, the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It is conterminous with the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The constituency currently elects 41 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 5,524,666 registered electors.

Vusumuzi Cyril Xaba is a South African politician and a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2019. He is currently serving as Co-Chairperson of the Joint Standing Committee on Defence and as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans. A member of the African National Congress, he previously served in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 1994 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2019. He was the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development from 2014 to 2016.

Mohatla Alfred Tseki is a South African politician who has served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2019. Prior to his election to parliament, Tseki served as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. He is a member of the African National Congress.

Ernest Thokozani Myeni is a South African politician who was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in the 2019 general election as a member of the African National Congress.
