The 13th Pusan International Film Festival took place on October 2 to 10, 2008 in Busan, South Korea. A total of 315 films from 60 countries were screened at the festival. [1]

Contents

The event opened with The Gift to Stalin by Kazakh director Rustem Abdrashev. [2] South Korean Yoon Jong-chan's I Am Happy closed the festival. [3] The event held 827 screenings and was attended by 198,818 people. [4]

The 18th Busan International Film Festival was held from October 3 to October 12, 2013 and was hosted by Aaron Kwok and Kang Soo-yeon.

The 19th Busan International Film Festival was held in South Korea from October 2 to October 11, 2014, and was hosted by Ken Watanabe and Moon So-ri. Yoon Jong-chan is a South Korean film director. He directed Sorum (2001), Blue Swallow (2005), I Am Happy (2009) and My Paparotti (2013).

Zhang Lü or Jang Ryul is a Chinese filmmaker. Zhang was originally a novelist before embarking on a career in cinema. His arthouse films have mostly focused on the disenfranchised, particularly ethnic Koreans living in China; these include Grain in Ear (2006), Desert Dream (2007), Dooman River (2011), Scenery (2013), and Gyeongju (2014).

I Am Happy is a 2009 South Korean drama film directed by Yoon Jong-chan, starring Hyun Bin and Lee Bo-young. It is a film adaptation of Yi Chong-jun's short novel Mr. Cho, Man-deuk, which tells a story about wounded souls and an encounter between a patient and a nurse who met in a mental institution. The film was released in theaters on November 26, 2009.

Park Jung-hoon is a South Korean cinematographer and film director. Park gained international recognition with the action thriller The Villainess, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017, with four awards as Director of Photography. This year, the festival restarted events and program sections which were not conducted due to COVID-19 for last 2 years. The festival opened with Iranian film Scent of the Wind by director Seyed Hadi Mohaghegh, Jeon Yeo-been with Ryu Jun-yeol were master of ceremonies for the opening ceremony.
