2007 Punjab Legislative Assembly election for the constitution of the Thirteenth Legislative Assembly of Punjab was held in the Indian state of Punjab. [2]
The term of the twelfth Punjab assembly ended with its dissolution in March 2007. The dissolution was necessitated after the results of the election was declared.

The Punjab legislative assembly election, 2012 was held on 30 January 2012, to elect 117 members to the 14th Punjab Legislative Assembly. The results of the election were announced on 6 March 2012. The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal – Bharatiya Janata Party alliance led by Parkash Singh Badal won the elections.
Avinash Chander is an Indian politician and belongs to Bharatiya janata party (BJP). He was the member of Punjab Legislative Assembly and represented Kartarpur (2007-2012) and Phillaur ( 2012-2017) from Shiromani Akali Dal. He was also the chief parliamentary secretary for Higher Education & Languages department. In 2022, he joined BJP and now he is the member of core committee Punjab.

In the Sixteenth Punjab Legislative Assembly, 92 members of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party form the treasury benches. The main opposition party in the assembly is Indian National Congress with 18 seats. The other parties which are in opposition are the Shiromani Akali Dal, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party and independents. AAP MLA, Kultar Singh Sandhwan was announced as the speaker of the assembly.
