Johan Nordahl Brun 19th-century Norwegian Lutheran bishop, poet, and politician

Johan Nordahl Brun was the poet, dramatist, Bishop in Bergen (1804–1816), and politician who contributed significantly to the growth of National Romanticism in Norway, contributing to the growing national consciousness.

Caspar Wessel was a Danish–Norwegian mathematician and cartographer. In 1799, Wessel was the first person to describe the geometrical interpretation of complex numbers as points in the complex plane. He was the younger brother of poet and playwright Johan Herman Wessel.
